Re: Ferritin Level

Hi Beth, Nice to hear from you. I saw my doctor today (this was the appointment I dreaded). My appointment today was initially set up in advance for a physical, but I sent an email to the office requesting that the time allowed for a physical be changed to a regular appointment because of a more urg...

Re: Ferritin Level

Thanks, Beth. I'm just overly anxious I guess and hoping that someone had had a similar experience and had found relief in something else. My doctor is not easy to talk with, and I dread meeting with him for that reason. I have a fistful of information I have printed concerning RLS but I doubt he wi...

Re: Ferritin Level

Yes, I think I have definitely experienced augmentation. I am completely off Mirapex now and am only taking Vicodin during what would be considered normal sleeping hours. That helped initially, but now, nothing seems to help. Inasmuch as I have already had a serious side effect from ReQuip, I don't ...

Ferritin Level

I have just received the results of my first ferritin lab check...119, standard range 10-291 ng/mL. I haven't had an appointment with my doctor yet (1/12/2012), so I'm just a little anxious to know what that means. I know that anything below 50 mcg/l is not good, but not sure how it relates to the &...

That's a brilliant suggestion, Tracy. I think your impression of my doctor is right on target. Fortunately, unlike some doctors who share his same feelings, he is very good in the treatment of most illnesses. I just don't think he is as knowledgeable in the RLS area as is necessary. I appreciate you...

Our insurance plan allows us to go to any doctor we wish, and I established myself with a neurologist when I first decided to see a doctor for RLS back in 2008. He is a very nice man and a great listener. However, he is not experienced in the treatment of RLS and admitted that to me after I had been...

Ann, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I need that right now. I remember the last time I was in a similar place , and you were so kind. While I dislike knowing that anyone has had it as bad as I'm going through right now, it does help to know that somehow they managed to get beyond ...

Thanks, Tracy. I need to hear that this awful time I'm going through now will, hopefully, only last a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if this is the third or fourth night, but I'm guessing I've had maybe two hours sleep during whatever period it has been. I tried to take a nap today, but the RLS start...

The insert included with the medication only mentions "vision changes" in the side effects. WebMD lists double vision, problems with eyesight. I do remember a site where some had feelings of looking through a veil, another had difficulty focusing. and another had photophobia. Due to the ap...

Ann - Sorry I skipped over your reply; I apologize. Yes, about a month ago, I noticed that I wasn't getting the usual relief, and I increased the Mirapex by 0.125, taking 3 tablets approximatley 2 hours before sitting for the evening. I'm trying to recall, but I can't be sure if my symptoms worsened...

Hi Beth, Thanks for getting back to me. In researching the side effects of Mirapex, I have found that there are people who have been on the drug for a long time before experiencing side effects, some of them similar to mine, some a lot worse. I don't want to sound as though I am self-diagnosing my p...

Polar Bear - You are absolutely right, my symptoms could be related to something relatively simple and, of course, that is my hope. When I see my PCP December 22, I will attempt to cover all my symptoms with him. I am only trying to provide myself with as much info as possible prior to my visit so t...

Hi Beth, Thank you so much for responding. The first thing I did when I awoke this morning was check my email, hoping for a response. Yes, you're right; I can barely stand to think of having to go off the Mirapex after finally experiencing such welcomed relief. It was kind of a last ditch effort tha...

Mirapex and Vision/Balance Problems

I have been taking Mirapex for about 2 1/2 years now and obtained success not reached with Nurontin, Requip, and a couple others. I have been pleased with improvement thus far. However, a few months ago I started experiencing double vision and difficulty focusing at times. I had an eye exam and was ...

Mia, So sorry you have had a similar experience with Requip, but at the same time it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one having this particular experience. I'm not familiar with methadone at all for RLS. Did you start on it right away after the Requip. It sounds as though it is working ve...
