Re: Horizant- Delayed time to efficacy?

Hi Bridgercan, thanks for checking in. I ended up quitting the Horizant shortly after I wrote this post. In fact I recently decided to give it one more try, took 300mg at 5pm, and my RLS started around 8p and continued until at least midnight - that 's worse than without it. Once again it did not ma...

Horizant- Delayed time to efficacy?

Hi all, I started on Horizant about a week ago. I started at 300mg because most medications seem to affect me more strongly. I still had restless legs, couldn't get to sleep, you know the drill. One night I only got 3 hours of sleep. The only effect I felt from the Horizant was in the morning when I...

Hi Softtail, thank you for sharing your story with me and for the encouraging words. It's heartening to know someone has found relief even if you did have to take a long hard road to get there. For now, the solution for me has been to decrease the doseage of SSRI I take, so far this has not caused a...

Serum Ferritin + Sleep Study

Hi everyone, I posted here http://bb.rls.org/viewtopic.php?t=6685&highlight= a while back, I will have my sleep study tonight. Today I also got my blood results back from the lab, everything looks normal except my serum ferritin is 34, apparently this is on the low side and can cause increased s...

Update

Well, I saw the pysch last night and as expected he increased the dosage of Requip. He said to take 1mg at night and .5 at mid-morning for the daytime symptoms. So last night I took my first 1mg dose, but I still had symptoms and it took me about 2 hours to finally fall asleep. I'm wondering if I'm ...

Hi Zach, thanks so much for the detailed response. The problem with the algorithm is that before I brought the RLS up to my psych a month ago, I mailed him the algorithm and asked if he would call in something based on it, because I was miserable and couldn't wait till my next appt. His staff called...

Dose of Requip too low?

Hello everyone, I have mild RLS which has been bumped up to a whole new level by taking an SSRI (I posted here one other time about what kind of doctor to see). I can't give up the SSRI right now, so I'm going to a sleep clinic next month. To get me through until my appt. rolls around, I asked my ps...

Thank you all so much for your insightful comments, I really appreciate it. It helps to talk to people who understand. Polar Bear, I took your advice and wrote to Dr. B. What kind of doctor? How to find a good one?

Hi, I'm new here but not to RLS. It had pretty much subsided for a while but then I became severely depressed due to some unfortunate circumstances in my life, and I had to go on an SSRI. I knew from past experience that these drugs exacerbate my RLS and this one is no exception. I've complained abo...

New Member with a Question

Hello everyone, I have had RLS on and off since I was a teen, I'm 49 now. It seems to settle down for a while and then flare, sometimes I can figure out the cause, e.g. I now know SSRIs cause my RLS to act up. Currently I am taking Wellbutrin, Methotrexate weekly for my rheumatoid arthritis, Prevaci...
