Thank you Susan. In 1998 I developed peripheral neuropathy from meds. By the next year I waking each night being & didn't know why (my brother had died of an overdose the year before, his biggest problem was he couldn't sleep either) Things worsened & one day when nodding off I realised I wa...

I was prescribed Lyrica earlier this year for my RLS, but didn't start it as the pain/sensations have been somewhat undercontrol (& my mother didn't get on with this med at all). I take Ropinarole & cloneazepam. The Clone really helped me in the early days (to stop me jerking awake). It stil...

Zach, I know you're pretty clued up but have you tried the suppliament psyllium for IBS? I take two capsules 30 mins before food & it seems to have (over a period of weeks) settled things down for me. If you google it you may find out more. It seems it can help with both diarrhea & constipat...

Augmentation

I've been trying to get my head around augmentation. I believe it's true that one can get a massive 'downer' after taking some recreational drugs such as ecstacy (after a surge in feel good chemicals such as seratonin) is that because the brain has been forced by the drug to use up it's seratonin su...

Agreed. To say one's RLS has been cured doesn't mean it will work for everyone. We're all individual and may have many factors that contribute to our symptoms.

Basically the book says to cut out dairy, which the author says was the cause of his RLS by triggering an 'alergic like reaction'. I found it made some sense as the writer said his RLS flared up after a bout of drinking creamy coffees, milkshakes & ice cream due to the fact he'd been consuming t...

Anti-smoking drug calms restless legs

Did anyone else see the small article in the health section of yesterdays (24/3/09) Daily Mail? A dreadful paper usually, I couldn't get a link but it says 'A drug that helps smokers quit may ease the symptoms of restless legs. In one American study a patient was symptom free in three days." It...

I thought some of the stronger skunks used to aggrevate my rls somewhat. But I invested in an i-Inhale which is a device that super heats the MJ & you inhale the vapor (no niccotine & no inhalation of the detritous). I have found this very effective for sleep & the pain (I still take 2mg...

Nadia, hang in there girl! Sounds like you're having a hell of a rotten time. I am truly sorry & hope you have the upswing you deserve. Three nights straight is enough to drive anyone nuts. You are obviously very strong though. We all have to be tough cookes for everyone else don't we! Wishing y...

I decided not to switch to Mirapex, but instead I asked to split my Requip into two 1mg doses. I chose this over my neuro & he agreed with me. Like jml this RLS runs in my family, I had a sibling (brother) who had terrible sleep issues, as does my mother (she's on Requip). My older sister shows ...

I love Southpark too guys. As for chemicals, I wouldn't be able to survive without them. Society has a sniffy attitude to those of us that use medication for pain control. Prescribed drugs (& sometimes) MJ helps my rls & it is medicinal as far as I'm concerned. As I say, whatever works right...
