FYI Saw my primary care doctor last week. When I asked if he would just glance at the Mayo algorithm he would not even touch it, much less look at it. H also threw the iron supplementsw/Vit. C. recommended by a Johns Hopkins neurologist into the trash can in front of my eyes. All he did was increase...

RLS medications

I have used every product out there (except opiods) for RLS and they often work at first but then no longer work. I am currently taking 3 gabapentin (30 mg) at bedtime and then 2 more when I wake up with RLS which is often just a few minutes after I go to sleep. I am also taking 4 clonazepam tablets...

Follow up on Augmentation

FYI re augmentation. Had to have my daughter take me to the ER after not getting a minute's sleep for 48 hours. ER doc said to go from 4 to one requip as my internist had recommended. In follow up appointment with my internist he asked if I had heard of the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation! I said ...

My internist, as well as the ER doctor, both said to take one Requip and one clonazepam each night before going to bed. (That's a decrease from 4 Requip prescribed by my neurologist, but RLS members advise me to go off Requip entirely. There is no agreement on how to handle this. I did learn that ce...

Many thanks to those who responded to my question re augmentation. I have a call in to my doctor now to ask for an opiod prescription and to let him know that I will not take any more Requip until this settles down. Haven't slept for a long, long time and this is getting serious. I must act quickly ...

Thanks for your response. You certainly seemed to feel as I do now. You are the 3rd person to suggest Lyrica. As soon as I see my neurologist I will ask her about it.

Cough Medicine and RLS

Does anyone know what effect, if any, OTC cough medicines might have on RLS? In addition to RLS, I have chronic bronchitis and I am afraid my pulmonary doctor might prescribe a cough medicine which would make the RLS worse.

Just for the record, I have been taking 2 mg of Requip and 15 mg of mirtazepine daily for the past 6 weeks. I have severe RLS and spent many nights on end not sleeping at all. I may be one of the lucky ones, but so far this is working for me, indicating that our reactions to mirtazepine vary greatly...
