... cracked tailbone, though; how can you even sit?

ahaha - no problem! What we know is that we are all practiced "standers."

Re: RLS after hip surgery

yes, sigh... again. On the bright side, my daughter probably gets great results from almost anything and would be a terrific subject for a placebo trial Meanwhile I slathered on the Traumeel for my basal joint arthritis the other night, and finally got to sleep only after I went for the Bio-Freeze. ...

Re: Child with RLS

To Ttrolz and all parents with children with WED -- There is a Youth Initiative sponsored by the WED Foundation http://rls.org/connect-with-others/youth-initiative . You'll find some helpful links there. There is is something else I hope you will consider: When any of us is struggling, feeling helpl...

Re: RLS after hip surgery

Oh boy! Oh girl, rather!! You've probably been through every shade of regret and gratitude since your injury. I'm just chiming in with all who are here, wishing you well, wishing you good and total recovery. oh, and ... just thought of something my daughter passed along. I'd never heard of Traumeel ...

Re: RLS after hip surgery

I am having hip surgery and am very worried how it is going to affect my leg afterwards. Does anyone know anything about it? You didn't mention when your hip replacement was to take place; I hope by now you are enjoying your new hardware and walking well. It's great to live in this age of miracles....

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

I'll bet there are many folks doing their pacing now who would love to have a support group regardless of what time it was held, within reason. It's just reaching them and letting folks know that there is indeed support available. You are so right -- and I've been thinking about this one. First , a...

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

Maria - I have actually made myself laugh at my own stupidity. You say you heard peanut butter was good for symptoms and before I got any further..... I thought the peanut butter would make a helluva mess on the bed sheets. Sorry, I'm still laughing.... http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-lau...

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

Nice work! And you have another one this week? Same venue? Same time of day? What a good idea - you can use what you learned this time right away. That's something I'll definitely consider for my summer meeting! btw - with the CAM suggestions, I think we've all heard so many remedies - from ivory s...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and WED (RLS)

You are a courageous pioneer. Your creative management of WED symptoms with massive lifestyle changes is bold, and your reporting the details and results here is a gift.

I hope eventually you will consider publishing your journey as a book. You're like a WED field anthropologist!

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and WED (RLS)

You know what? You're right. I remember reading Robert Waterman's' column in Nightwalkers where he shared his experience eating -- raisins, I think -- really slowly, one at a time in a concert so he could attend without too much fidgiting. I couldn't go to a movie without s-l-o-w popcorn munching.

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

Yes! I used to remind myself when I was presenting professionally, that I might feel unprepared, but I sure as heck knew more than anyone in the room! As do you, badnights, without a doubt. What an incredible resource you will be to the folks in your area. Of the 7% or so who have WED, if you even r...

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

What a great idea to bring your laptop! -- just one more example of how many heads finally equal a working brain. So badnights, where did you finally land for your meeting? (I've postponed mine until March 1, but have set up the next three in the same room: August and November. I wanted to build fam...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and WED (RLS)

Compulsion?-- or just because I'm in the kitchen. When I wake up at night, it's not ever because I'm hungry. Usually I fix a cup of tea (decaf, right?) and go walkabout while the kettle boils. But guess where the stove is. Yep, it's also where the cookies are! I've been trying to keep in mind, not t...

Re: Best time for Support Group meeting?

So happy to have returned at last to this wonderful forum -- and even more, to have browsed my way to this post! My first support group meeting is in January -- scheduled after starting in September to find a meeting room. There went my lead time! But I decided just to plunge ahead and get going. I ...

So glad for you, jy.

That's why they're called the healing "arts." (It must mean a good doctor should be called a healing "artist!")
