Re: JUNE 2018 - NEW MEMBERS

welcome to warren1333, who has had RLS since his teens, and is now in his 50's. It has disrupted his sleep for years and made sitting in a theatre or on a plane unbearable. warren1333, you're in the right place because we all know how you feel. STart a thread to tell us more about yourself or to ask...

Re: Methadone was working, now it's not

There are three possible reasons for your daytime sleepiness that I can see. One is the gabapentin, which Holland suggests you experiment with reducing first (it's the least likely to cause problems if you reduce the dose, so its the easiest to test to see if it's the cause). Second is the methadone...

Re: Requip & Erectile Dysfunction ???

Ah Jim. It sucks to have to be grateful that we're in the frying pan and not the fire. Of course it's better in the frying pan, but gee. Horizant might not be any better than gabapentin. Its advantage is that it bypasses the issues of erratic absorption that gabapentin has, by being absorbed as a pr...

Re: Augmentation- Cold Turkey

@ Borzoibabe Your neurologist is clearly ignorant of the basics of WED/RLS. Her attitude is unfortunately common. Since she's your best bet for a referral, and in an effort to keep things pleasant, probably the best thing to do is bring her some literature. Specifically, if you can, print out the Me...

Re: What Calms You in the Night?

I always pee before I go anywhere or do anything, whether I have to or not. The preventative pee, I call it. You have to be SO tired to fall asleep glass of milk in hand. As when I fall to sleep in a yoga pose - we are just not meant to be that tired, yet here we all are! I fell asleep the other nig...

Re: Discussion of Adenosine paper

I certainly often need to exercise my limbs rather violently during the night, while lying in bed, but it is not at all the same as WED. It feels 'needful', but quite enjoyable. You do not have to get up and walk, you just lie there and kick the bedclothes to bits. I have never consulted a sleep sp...

Re: Augmentation- Cold Turkey

How much Lyrica are you taking? It's nice that you're getting some sleep. You could decide to keep the slow taper so as not to rock the boat. Or you could stop cold turkey and weather the storm to get it over with. As long as you;re getting a reasonable sleep, no need to stop more quickly. Good luck...

Re: Is It RLS/WED? Or Something Else? Or both?

There was a study that showed that children of mothers with WED/RLS are more likey to have ADD. My younger son has both ADD and WED (and anxiety and a touch of OCD). My older son has none of the above. I strayed off topic, but that's another documented link between WED and ADD.

it's a grueling time, but worth it to get off of pramipexole. It sounds like you're on the right road. A rough one, to be sure, but you sound like the kind of person who will see it through. You'll finally get back some of the quality of life you've been missing out on. The worst part will probably...

Stewart quickly noticed suspicion not just among doctors but among friends and relatives, too. Did he really hurt that badly? Had he tried exercise? What about Advil? Maybe he just needed more rest. Sound familiar? Telling her staff that she was closing the pain clinic, she had said, “I will be sho...

Re: Is your DA causing augmentation?

I do like the WED name sooo much better. I have trouble - can't - spread some of the Foundation's materials because I have such a strong negative reaction to the old name. I actually cannot bring myself to use it. I've tried. I want to raise awareness in the worst way, but when I try to post somethi...

Re: JUNE 2018 - NEW MEMBERS

Please take a look at the diagnostic criteria published by the International RLS Study Group (IRLSSG) to decide whether you have RLS. If so, please post a note telling us about your symptoms and whether you have tried any medications up to now. Note to PPP You can just post a note if you want. Stev...

Not sure why we stopped honestly.
You could revive the tradition. There aren't many fun indoor physical activities like table tennis.

Stress definitely jacks up RLS/WED symptoms. I've seen it in my own life, and it's noted in the literature too.

Re: Is your DA causing augmentation?

I use weird stretches in bed, too. As you said (not quite - I'm taking liberties), the stretches are effective if the meemies aren't screaming yet. you have to be careful though; I've fallen asleep on my hand with my wrist bent under me often enough that I now have wrist problems. And I've fallen as...
