Re: methadone not working

I take a combination of three opioids (Hydromorphone, Oxycodone and Morphine) instead of a higher dose from one single opioid. In my case this helps to keep the tolerance under control and in that combination opioids are still effective after 6 years of taking them. How much of each do you take? Do...

Re: Specialist to see?

There's really no hard and fast rule about the type of specialist. Some GPs have more experience trreating RLS/WED than some movement disorder specialists! But generally there are three types of specialist who end up becoming proficient in WED/RLS treatment - neurologists, pulmonary specialists and ...

Welcome to DianeB

Welcome today to DianeB who has had RLS/WED for 35 years without knowing it had a name for most of that time. Increasing severity is causing DianeB to consider taking meds. DianeB, I'm glad you're educating yourself first. There are a number of things to try before trying meds (which I wish I had kn...

Re: Massager

I don't think one of those foot-calf massage machines would work for me, either. The constriction might drive me nuts, while the massage would not be hitting my key points (which tend to be front of ankles, front of thigh immediately above knees). Despite my instinctive dislike of the massager, I ha...

can't hurt to see if a quarter of a tab will work. Wouldn't that be amazing?

Oh Ann. How depressing it must be for you.
Start the process now, while you have a bit of energy.

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

Maybe I should just be me and go for a week without sleep and pass out and then repeat. Maybe I was meant to be like that. I am going in a few days to get my new prescription for Suboxone and I think that after that I will wean myself off of it (because of the dependence on Suboxone I can't just qu...

Re: Sleeping Arrangements

How come you say that your husband has RLS/WED? Was he diagnosed? From your description, he doesn;t seem to have the disease. If he did, he would be awake and suffering from nasty sensations, including an urge to move. These sensations are impossible to sleep through, and people with WED/RLS are amo...

Re: Lifetime RLS/WED here to say hi!

True. That would be a sensible option. Much better than straight DAs. But I still think all the ohter things I mentioned should be done first. Maybe diet concurrently, if James is going nuts and can;t stand it any more.

Re: RLS Patient Symposium

Well, here are my notes, such as they are. They are organized by talk, but I have lumped similar talks together (there were a number on iron, for example). Very important: I didn't make notes on everything, I didn’t try to summarize the talks, in fact I only made notes on things that tweaked my inte...

Re: refractory rls and psoriasis relationship

gag - they called RLS a "well-treatable co-morbidity". I shouldn't complain, it is easily treated with lifestyle changes and now-and-then meds for most people who have it. But it made me cringe, because it is such a huge ongoing problem - definitely not "well-treatable" - for a s...

Re: Lifetime RLS/WED here to say hi!

I have to disagree with the others about the dopamine agonists, because you haven't tried enough other things yet, and because of the eventual negative impact they will undoubtedly have. I echo what Steve said about your ferritin levels - get the actual number. Some WED patients need ferritin levels...

Re: refractory rls and psoriasis relationship

I have had eczema since I was a kid. Also WED/RLS, but it was not a big deal until about 10 yrs ago, following an operation and an unrelated infection treated with heavy antibiotics, either of which might have been the trigger. Many of us have autoimmune issues. This is a complex disorder and there ...
