Re: Two hours of sleep

I realized today that my lack of energy is due to needing sleep. I don't know why it took me so long to get that, I've experienced the same thing. A "d-uh" moment. We take so long to get it because we're sleep deprived! It's a complicated circle of cause and effect. Then one of them said ...

Re: tapering off ropinirole

see his colleague who is a movement disorder specialist.... only to admit that his colleague is more familar with parkinson than rls... Well see him anyway! He might know something about WED/RLS or be willing to investigate, and he might be willing to prescribe a real opioid. Meanwhile, will your ....

Re: comorbid migraines

One thing to consider when deciding what to try, fuz, is that a listed side effect is not inevitable. Some people get them, some don't. As Betty suggested, the only way to find out if you will get a particular side effect is to try the med. You do have to consider the possible side effects, but if y...

Re: Requip & Erectile Dysfunction ???

I'm happy for you, but sad too, that we find such small things to feel good about. I'm truly ecstatic now that my RLS movements are so minor and infrequent! If I fix the sleep that will be the "icing on the cake". 4-6 hr broken sleep a night is dreadful. I know this. I live this. And it's ...

Re: Lumbar exercise is by far the best tratment for me

Huh. If I feel mild symptoms in the middle of the night (or any other time when I'm desperate) I lie on my belly on a couple of pillows with my knees flexed, with even higher pillows under my head. This is my frog pose. I fall asleep like that. Once I'm asleep I sometimes roll off, but often I don't...

Re: Two hours of sleep

It is the type of kidney problem that could grow into kidney failure? Could it explain your RLS?

Can you get afternoon naps? Need to keep you alive and a healthy grandmother, not a gibbering idiot from sleep loss.

Re: How expensive is treatment for RLS in the U.S.?

Canada has pretty much the same scores as the US on that site. We're also a young country in a big space. But our health care system is very different. There are plenty of factors that contribute to that and other cultural differences, but I can't speak knowledgeably about any of it. Everyone in Can...

Re: Two hours of sleep

Oh gee. What a terrible thing to be happening. You're needed, clearly. But do be careful not to expect yourself to be superwoman. Is it possible for you and your daughter to somehow arrange for one day a week when you can sleep in?

That's right, legsbe, it's apparently real, though for some people it's not enough as Betty says. I forgot about quinine.

Re: Neighbors from you-know-where, anyone?

Bizarre, isn't it, how things get better once we cease to care. "Darn it all, now that I don't care, it doesn't matter that things are better!" Or so I often think that I should think; but I don't really think it, because I no longer care.

Re: RLS and leg cramps

Grateful - you may already know this, but one of the most common causes of cramping is dehydration. Most of us don't drink enough water; recommended amounts are roughly 2 liters (9 cups) for women, 3 l (13 c) for men. That might be something to think about. It could also be related to a magnesium de...

Re: tapering off ropinirole

I haven't come to the discussion boards for a while because I was working out what to do and my Neurologist made her decision : I was augmenting pretty bad on Ropinirole which I took for maybe 8-9 months (total of 1mg per PM, cut into pieces to spread through early evening). My Neurologist told me ...

Re: tapering off ropinirole

i think i might have been too optimistic about my neuro. he sent me the 2016 AAN guidelines for my "reading pleasure" - he clearly didn't agree with ropinirole 1mg at max dose...... Then perhaps you could give him Buchfuhrer's 2012 paper for HIS reading pleasure. Written by someone who tr...

Re: Low-Sulfur Diet

One thing that surprised me about the ketogenic diet was how long it took for me to overcome my socially ingrained habit of avoiding fat. The prevailing "wisdom" when I was growing up was that fat was evil and carbs were good (whereas my mother grew up being told that carbs (starches, spec...

Would the same sort of effect be had by resting front of hips on an exercise ball? Might take more repetitions to work the muscles as much.
