Re: What Severe RLS is Like

It's still a big bonus to have cut it in half. And you sound so much more relaxed and optimistic and just generally happier these days :D Partly the retirement working out so well, but probably also the decreased symptoms and lowered med dose. OVerall, pretty good!

Re: What To Do?

Not many studies have been done on long-term use of dopaminergic agents and augmentation. The ones I'm aware of were published in 2011. In one, 266 patients were referred by their doctors from across the US to answer a questionnaire. They were all on on dopaminergic therapy - ropinirole, pramipeoxle...

Re: Bad night last night...

P.S. This place, and my gym, are the most non-judgmental places I know of. No worries on that score!

Re: Bad night last night...

Oh the mess of this world! You shouldn't even have to worry about your access to medication being taken away. However. First, remember that it hasn't happened and in fact might not. Your life is hard enough, so don't add to your miseries by cutting down on a medication you need unless you have somet...

Re: What Severe RLS is Like

Maybe the increased symptoms and missed dose were coincidence?

Re: Two hours of sleep

It sure doesn't take long to stiffen up and lose muscle mass. I hope you continue with the exercises and after a few days maybe the RLS won't flare up from doing them - maybe it will sort of normalize somehow.

Re: Keeping your prescriptions safe

Shoot. I had cleaners for a while, and if I could find someone decent I would do it again. I do keep everything locked except a max of one week's worth, but I leave paperwork around that I imagine someone could hunt for and harm me with if they wanted to. Like your mom and like probably many of us, ...

Re: tapering off ropinirole

Yes, I can tell that he doesn't get it. From what you've said, I would suggest your priority be to find a new doctor because this one might actually cause you harm, since he refuses to acknowledge the existence of augmentation.

And I made a mistake, see edit in previous post

Re: Two hours of sleep

:D (just don't overuse it) re the exercise - You're saying that being physically active during the day seems to make the symptoms less bad that night? I'm not surprised. I have notice the same thing. I also notice that when I exercise too much - when I'm too tired and do a workout that's too intense...

Re: What To Do?

I should add I do not feel like I am at the same place I was 5 years ago before I started taking Mirapex (dopamine agonist/pramipexole). I feel as though my RLS symptoms are worse and I question if that is a result of taking the drug. Five years ago I could fall asleep just fine but would wake up i...

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

I wish the best for you. Don't stop reading about this disease; the more you know, the better you can interact with your doctor. Good medical care is a partnership; your doctor's knowledge serves you best when you can tell him/her the things he/she needs to know. With your information, he can make g...

You're not alone, click4it! It's almost criminal that the only medication that relieves suffering and allows a person to be a productive member of society should be denied for reasons that are irrelevant to the actual situation of that person. I recommend that you read as much as possible about WED/...

Re: Kava?

There were discussions about kava on this board a few times over the years (type "kava" in the search box at top right to find a listing). I don't recall anyone saying it helped the WED/RLS symptoms, a couple said it did not. Kava can increase the risk of liver disease, although that might...
