Study links low folic acid to WED/RLS during pregnancy

A recent study published by Northwestern Universi, IL links WED/RLS during pregnancy to low folic acid in the pregnant woman's blood. It has not been shown if low folic acid causes WED, if WED causes low folic acid, or if both WED and low folic acid arise from some other cause. Title is Serum folic ...

Your itching is deep, is that right? The humidifier is interesting. there has been some recent work that suggests a link between RLS/WED symptoms and muscle hypoxia (low oxygen in the muscles). I wonder if the humidifier helps because breathing is easier in moistened air, so more oxygen gets to the ...

Re: Evaluating my cognition over time.

I don't do anything quantitative, but I do remember in the first years after the disease went nuts in me, I was trying to finish my Masters thesis (I went back to school in my 40s), and I always expected to be able to do a task in the same amount of time it would have taken me when I was healthy. Th...

Re: Magnesium and CoQ10

This disease robs people of their lives. My career is over, had to retire just after turning 60. I am terrified of the opioid situation in this country. Those of you who know me here, know all of this. Since I have to wait until the end of May, it reminded me that time is so frustrating. I feel lik...

Re: Hoping for a better night

Coffee used to be really bad for me. I struggled for years and finally succeeded in quitting it completely, for about 2 years. I made a conscious decision to start it again. I was not craving it. There are health benefits to drinking moderate amounts. So I started with 2 cups a day on workdays only....

Nice. The more people who start to understand what you're going thru, the better.

Re: going from ropinerole to gabapentin

The best way to get through, if your doctor insists on a slow taper without opioid support, is to cease expecting anything of yourself. Take time off work, and concentrate on treating yourself well and getting through the day. Sleep when you can, eat properly, and expect nothing else, because you wi...

:( :( Be gentle with yourself when you feel like that. Set very tiny goals. Remind yourself that the state you're in is temporary. I hope it doesn't last very long.

Steve, at least you're trying. And how thoroughly, too! It's bound to have some effect, hopefully the one you intend, but even it's just a few more people thinking twice before they make assumptions, that's something too.

Re: Sleep diary

that's good news about the iron working! Sleep fragmentation is something the doctor should have asked you about instead of claiming equivalence with you. Have you ever had a sleep study? There's a measure called sleep efficiency which compares the amount of time you're asleep to the amount of time ...

Re: Flu + RLS + constipation = torture

I feel for you. I was badly constipated once and it was a very miserable experience. That was from oxycodone taken after the operation that started my WED/RLS going nuts, so I wasn't experiencing WED at the same time, thankfully. Too much to deal with! My favorite foods--ice cream, chocolate ets--ar...

Re: Overnight away from home

I’m on the sofa & my husband is on a mattress on the floor. I don’t want to waken anyone so I’m suffering in the dark. At my brother’s there will be another houseguest & I’ll face the same dilemma. I know how hard it is, but you have to try to manage situations like that, so they don't ever...
