Re: something easy that worked for me

I have heard of eczema and asthma stopping after dairy was stopped, and I myself have had major improvements in my WED/RLS by stopping dairy, gluten, added sugar, and most processed foods, and by limiting carbohydrates (not sure which was essential or if all were). A lot of people see improvements i...

Re: Mirapex while 6 months pregnant

omg I just wrote a long reply and then closed my browser window by mistake. The condensed version is that the Foundation's brochure "Pregnancy and RLS" is near teh bottom of the page https://www.rls.org/member-portal/publications under "information for healthcare providers" and r...

SnappyK I'm sorry to hear things have worsened, but I'm glad you;ve found another culprit. I can't believe it;s been a year either ... I haven't done a thing except survive from day to day. Sheesh.

Re: How long have you had RLS/WED

I was a kid when it started - I feel like I've always had it - but it was only intermittently a problem. Every now and then I would think "wouldn't it be horrible to have this all the time, or to have it in my arms" only I didn't think that in words, and my mind skittered away from the tho...

Re: bandage & socks for RLS

I think elastic bandages (ace bandages) can be a good tool for many of us. I found they subdued the sensations but not usually enough, and sometimes they seemed to make things worse. Also what a pain to put on and off. I tried the support stockings, but I can't have my toes restricted. I found a pai...

I took mehtylcobalamin for a long time with no obvious effect. But I was taking a sublingual tablet, not drop, in the morning, not evening. I forget the doseage.

I would take it as a good sign that she won;t raise the dose. I would also describe to her why you feel you need a dose increase - what is happening to you? Does the current dose not cover the symptoms? Have the symptoms been getting worse? Your symptoms might already be augmented by the ropinirole.

That;s why the advocacy work the Foundation is doing (and individuals too ) is so important. Hopefully the backlash will stop before it gets even more unreasonable.

Re: How long does it take for Lyrica to start working?

I was taking 1800 mg gabapentin and 150 mg codeine and it wasn't controlling my symptoms. The recommended daily dose of gabapentin for RLS/WED is 1800 mg according to Lee et al 2013 (the little Blue book, 2nd edition) or 3600 mg according to the RLS Foundation's medical bulletin of 2017. So you have...

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS

I wonder why my PC insists that the best way to absorb the most iron is to take it every other day. Are their different expert opinions on this? Yes, there are, of course. Your PC is going by the theory I mentioned earlier, If iron isn't absorbed unless your blood levels are low, how does taking ir...

Re: Histamine/Tyramine Food Triggers

I don't know if I'm relieved or not! It's nice to know that you figured it out without doing long-term analyses of hundreds of different foods. But it's disappointing, in a way, to know that I don't have such immediate reactions to any food, and will likely therefore never figure out if any other fo...

Re: best iron suppliment to increase ferritin levels?

Also, there's no need to take it 3 times a day,. You can still take 6 times as much, but take it all at once. There's some indication that it will be absorbed better if you don't maintain levels by taking it all day long, rather let them drop over the course of the day and take once, at bedtime. EDI...

Re: Iron has helped

Ferrous sulfate 3x 65mg elemental iron equivalent. Take three pills at once an hour or so before bedtime with 500 mg vitamin C. Repeated experiments both intentional and unintentional over the years have shown me that reducing this dose - even by taking the third pill only on alternate days - result...
