kickyknees, Yes running out of meds can be a problem if your physician has an emergency, is on vacation, etc. However, I think most of us keep a "stash" just in case. Also, as opiate users, if were taking them properly we should'nt run out. Zach is right about replacing a doctor. If your p...

Doety, It's not uncommon to flip flop and have unbearable RLS symptoms during the daytime hours. Mine is at it's worse as soon as my feet hit the floor in the a.m., or if I wake up from a nap in the afternoon. So I pretty much chase the symptoms all day long, which does cause unwanted side effects f...

Long term Opiate use....

Does anyone else in this forum get concerned about long term Opiate use?I'm on Oxycodone 15 mg every 4-6 hrs. Even though I've been to hell and back trying to find the right drug combo to relieve symptoms, I still get nervous regarding long term use. I'm in my 50's and can't imagine taking this for ...

Sarahjj, I did'nt begin on the Oxycodone over night. I started w/ Norco 7.5/325 mg (1 or 2 ) every 4-6 hrs. When I went to Mayo to see Dr. Silber, he did'nt like the amount of Tylenol I was consuming so mg for mg switched me to Oxy. So you may want to start w/ the Norco. My RLS escalated over the pa...

Zach, Sorry for my confusion....I'm currently taking Lyrica, Oxycodone, Xanax and Abilify. Sure glad I'm currently off of work because the side effects of starting another neuro drug was overwhelming.(dizziness, lethargy, headache , confusion, etc.) Went to my counselor yesterday, took an anxiety and ...

Sarahjj, So glad you got some relief and were able to experience"real life" for a change. I'm taking Lyrica 150 mg 3 times a day. It truly has been a wonder drug. That combined w/ Oxycodone has saved me from alot of grief and symptoms. Hope things continue to improve for you. : )

I finally could'nt take the depression, lack of energy, and not caring about a darn thing. So I called Dr Silber's office. The office and nurse were very professional and empathetic. Dr Silber felt that my meds were not the cause of my severe depression. He suggested Wellbutrin. He also stated, If I...

Bethf, It may feel dishonest to get a "stash supply" of meds, however if you ever have a physician that has an emergency arise, or your out of town and run out of meds, believe me you'll never be without a stash again. It's especially important for us RLS suffers who use opiates on a daily...

Kelley, I have'nt had the experience of RLS symptoms and breastfeeding. My RLS did'nt really kick in until my children were much older. You may want to check w/ your physicians and see if you can take one of the dopamine antagonists( Mirapex,Requip ) and safely breastfeed. If they advise against it,...

Sarah, Have you tried getting samples of Lyrica? Also many of the drug companies have indigent programs where you get your medication free. Your physicians office/nurse can fill out the paper work and call the drug rep in your area. I agree w/ Susan about maybe trying less expensive medications firs...

Bethf, I started this whole discussion a while back, "Lyrica may be the answer for me". The medication is working well along w/ Oxycontin 15 mg every 4-6 hrs. Dr Silber at Mayo clinic suggested these medications to my family physician, and she cooperated fully. That being said, I really nee...

Lewis21043, I don't personally take statins, however I work in a Cardiologists office and take many phone calls/complaints regarding statin drugs. Most patients complain of deep muscle and joint pain. No real RLS problems. But, this side effect may feel like your RLS. Zetia is a totally different dr...
