Psychick- My symptoms are always worse in the summer and in hot weather. My theory has always been that since we know heat can slow the transmission of signals along brain synapses AND since RLS has a lot to do with neurotransmitters and the transmission of them, I always figured that heat might als...

Glad you found a way to save some money, Jitter. Just as an FYI- Barr labs has won some crucial patent law cases lately against Boehringer Ingelheim. Which means a generic may be coming sooner then we think!

Becat- I'm glad you posted this-- I hadn't seen it yet. I was wondering when someone was going to start looking at not just the immediate success rate but how many patients successfully stay on these drugs. If the rate of resistance approaches what I've seen in parkinson's patients-- one should expe...

GG- because I'm a guy, you just know that rather then send you comforting words like Ann-- I want to solve this for you. Depending on your insurance, or lack thereof, is there a way for you to get to a pain clinic? Can a neighbor drive you? You sound like the perfect candidate for steroid injections...

Ann- I think you bring up an important point-- to me, more important than your doctor's specialty is their ability to be flexible and have an open mind when it comes to treating disease. Your experience with the sleep clinic and their love-affair with sleep apnea reminded me of my first sleep clinic...

Estelita- The most common signs and symptoms of physical withdrawal I've seen have been temperature regulation issues (feeling cold then hot then cold), sweating, tremors, nausea, yawning, runny nose, watery eyes. The all over pain you're describing usually happens at much higher doses of narcotics-...

First Generic Requip Approved by FDA
For those of you on Requip-- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first generic versions of Requip (ropinirole hydrochloride) tablets for the treatment of moderate to severe Restless Legs Syndrome. Ropinirole hydrochloride tablets have been approved in the following dosages: 0.25 m...

Sorry you're going thru this now, Ann. I'm not sure if any of us can accurately predict why or when our disease state decides to progress. To be honest with you, I've made myself crazy altering every single thing in my life to get my symptoms under control and nothing has worked. I have only succeed...

Gill- RLS shouldn't cause bad circulation, at least that I'm aware of. It can cause weird sensations/pains/need to move, etc-- but I've never heard of actual lack of blood flow. You may have RLS, but your symptoms sound suspiciously like peripheral vascular disease. Have you been tested for this? Do...

Waterloo-- If your legs are cold to the touch (as opposed to you feeling like they are but they aren't) - you should get the blood flow in your legs checked out via ultrasound. Peripheral vascular disease can feel very, very similar to RLS but is a more serious condition. As opposed to RLS, PVD usua...

My dad has RLS (which he refuses to take anything for) and my mom's sister has severe RLS. I think I've read that successive generations can show RLS at younger ages but I've often wondered if more then one relative with RLS correlates with worse RLS? I'm now on narcotics 24/7/365 and am only 36 yea...
