trying no medication at all

Has anyone tried to deal with RLS "old style"? Meaning quitting all medications (especially when augmenting on DAs). That would leave lifestyle adjustments, which for me would mean I guess sleeping 6:00 am to 2:00 pm when natural dopamine is highest. Is that a strategy, or still would leave one slee...

Augmenting on Tramadol?

I've been on (only) Tramadol for about 2 years, 50 mg twice nightly. I think I'm augmenting. Doesn't really work anymore and now my arms are involved. Has this happened to anyone? Can I quit cold turkey? I did that with gabapentin which didn't work at all for me. It was a rough couple days, but I di...

Re: RLS and other sleep disorders

Very interesting thoughts. I have rapid-cycling bipolar, treated since 2007 with a VNS implant. So I do not experience bipolar symptoms really at all anymore. Also, I have sleep apnea, which is anatomical and probably should have been treated earlier in my life. Now resolved. But as bipolar set in i...

Re: Regular Sleep Schedule

My email to the RLS Foundation: Date: 10/8/2020 12:14:57 PM Subject: Today's webinar on comorbidities To: RLS Foundation <info@rls.org> Dear Staff, I jumped into today's webinar a bit late, and realized it was on the subject of light and insomnia instead of comorbidities. The doctor spoke about slee...

Re: Regular Sleep Schedule

Yes - the 90 minutes whenever (with alarm) seems to work to compensate for the really bad periods. Luckily, I'm retired so I can sleep anytime I feel I can.

Re: Regular Sleep Schedule

Another point that most RLS people understand that RLS is not insomnia. People with insomnia struggle to get asleep and/or stay asleep. With RLS, a person might drift off to sleep in minutes (because soooo tired!) Then....up again, up again. That's not to say that some people don't have both insomni...

Regular Sleep Schedule

As a 30-year sufferer, I have to laugh about the advice one sees in literature from all sources. Most "helpful" articles on RLS say to "maintain a regular sleep schedule". Are they joking? None of these writers have actually experienced RLS. That is the oxymoron. One can't. You can't sleep at night,...

Brain Scan

An interesting article. My father had Parkinson's, and I have RLS. There appears to be similarity.

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US

In a way "restless legs syndrome" does not really capture the syndrome. I have RLS in my arms as well. So focusing on one body part seems not to be an answer. Shall I wrap all limbs in a vibrating pad? And what about when this occurs during the day, carry my device with me? Don't know...

Cucurmin - turmeric

I see quite a few PubMed and NIH (.gov) research publications on cucurmin and dopamine. Any of you take cucurmin supplements with any result?
