Re: Update on what's helped my partner with all day RLS

Just reread this and I don't want to sound like I am shilling for this company-- I'm totally NOT! I'm just such a fan, I feel like calling them and telling them this stuff helps RLS. But if I do, they might charge even more for it :)

Update on what's helped my partner with all day RLS

Hi All-- You were so helpful and supportive a couple months ago when my partner was experiencing HORRIBLE all over, all day RLS. We went to a sleep doctor/RLS 'expert' who started out very intent on helping. She prescribed Requip, but unfortunately that made the twitching that comes with the RLS eve...

Re: Update: Finally found a good med, but Doctor won't presc

She describes her's as the "itches" and as creepy-crawlies all over her body. It makes her have to move, sometimes makes her legs and arms jerk, and makes it so nothing can touch her (fabric etc.). Some things help out a little-- reflexology, hot bathes with epsom salts, and she's cut suga...

Update: Finally found a good med, but Doctor won't prescribe

Hi All-- I posted a while back about my partner who has SEVERE all day all over RLS/WED. I finally got her in to a sleep clinic in the area. I read about the neurologist on staff-- she had done RLS research, and has written for RLS newsletters. She came highly recommended, as far as I could tell. We...

Re: Partner dealing with RLS all over! All the time!

It's so good to find an understanding bunch of people! It sometimes seems like NO ONE else knows what this is like for her (and for me!) Her new doctor definitely wants her OFF the ativan, as it isn't really treating the problem, just masking it (we agree). And that's great, as she's built up a tole...

Re: Partner dealing with RLS all over! All the time!

thanks everyone! I'm really at my wit's end, here, which is why I posted today. She just took 6 mg of ativan-- in succession-- b/c each one didn't work to stop her skin from creeping and crawling. She slept for a few hours and is up again. Cross your fingers that it doesn't come back. I'm so close t...

Re: Partner dealing with RLS all over! All the time!

Thanks for your reply! We found a sleep clinic that has an RLS specialist at it in the area, so when she sees her doctor on the 26th, hopefully she can get a referral to go SOON. It sort of gets better when she moves around, but not completely. Is WED different from RLS? She also has diagnosed sleep...

Partner dealing with RLS all over! All the time!

My partner is dealing with TERRIBLE TORTUROUS all-over, all day RLS. She's had RLS on and off for years, but in the past couple years it's become SO MUCH worse. Quite frankly, it's frightening to see her unable to deal with this, and not being able to help. Basically, it's the creepy-crawlies all ov...

well, some good news! I went up to .50mg requip last night and I slept ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT and never woke feeling like someone was torturing me. That's the first time in WEEKS so I feel fantastic about it. I'm going to stick with that dose for now, and touch base with my doctor when I get back fro...

I know I had a bunch of blood tests (iron and others) back in July. I'll have to check and see if ferritin was one of them. I talked to a nurse this afternoon at my doctor's and she was basically like "double your requip and give it a week to work" before they think about other drugs. Okay...

I just noticed you're in Wisconsin too, Zach! I'm in Madison! Thanks so much for the advice. I definitely don't want to get hooked on taking a benzo if I can avoid it (I have a couple friends who take it to help them sleep-- I wonder if they know they can be hooked!) I'll call my NP this afternoon a...

thanks, Zach-- I'm going to print out the algorithm thing and give it a read. I love my NP but when I saw her a couple months for this, she really didn't seem to have much experience treating it. If necessary, I'll find someone else. I hadn't thought about the roadtrip being torture. Part of me thin...

very new to RLS and it's going to drive me insane!

I'm 32 years old and healthy in pretty much every other way (other than occasional migraines). For the last 6 months or so I've been running like 12-15 miles a week. I'm in grad school finishing a phd. I've never really had insomnia issues. Maybe occasionally in the past few years when I would have ...
