Relaxis Pad

The last issue of Nightwalkers introduced the Relaxis Pad,, a vibrating device made by Sensory Medical. Their website is myrelaxis.com, and it has the research to back up claims of real non-pharmacological nighttime relief. I'm not sure if it's out there for purchase yet. I'm wondering if anyone has...

Re: Horizant

Thanks for responses on Baclofen. I stopped using it after about 1 1/2 weeks because it caused terrible headaches....however it did alleviate night restlessness somewhat.

Re: Horizant

I've been taking Horizant for several years and it seems like its effectiveness is weakening, as I awaken 3 or more times a night and need to stretch before I can go back to sleep. The doctor just prescribed a muscle relaxant, Baclofen, to take with it as a "boost" to increase its effectiv...

Re: Horizant

This thread about Horizant really proves again that people react so differently to meds. My experience....I received uneven help from gabapentin and could not tolerate the side effects of Mirapex and Requip. Horizant has definitely helped me, and I don't have the morning lethargy that I hear about i...

Re: A heating pad works for me

I like the term "gremlins" too...as I can imagine them sneaking in when the rls begins at night. I'm the one who mentioned that a heating pad was so helpful to me. I have just ordered one that does not have an automatic shut-off to see if that helps me sleep more than in two hour stretches...

Horizant revisited

The last posting for Horizant was in October. Has anyone had new or additional experiences since then? I had high hopes for Horizant since I can't tolerate the dopamine agonists. After not using rls drugs for several years (and using lots of stretching, exercise, and my reliable heating pad) I was e...

more on heating pads

I feel fortunate to have recently found a heating pad that has an hour cycle, so that means that I don't wake up as much to turn it back on. I use medium heat. Doctors can't really explain why this is helpful for me. I still have to get up and stretch for a few minutes mid way through the night, how...

Beth and Susan, Thanks for your responses! It's so helpful to get others' opinions. I am trying to do without meds at this time, and as I posted elsewhere the heating pad gets me through the night fairly well. Still, some nights are better than others. I do bedtime stretching for prevention purposes...

Susan, Thanks for your questions and comments. I'll be glad to answer your questions... I have the typical symptoms of rls - walking/moving my legs definitely helps the rls, it is worse in the evening although I do have it sometimes during the day, and I know all about the uncontrollable urge to mov...

New to the group

This is such an amazing group. I signed up awhile ago and have spent time browsing the many posts. It's great that so many people are willing to give of their time and knowledge. In looking back, I think I've had very low level rls symptoms much of my life - I just didn't recognize them and they did...

New to the group

This is an amazing discussion group! I've just signed on and have spent some time reading the huge variety of posts. So many people take their time to comment and try to help fellow sufferers... As I look back, I think I've had real low level symptoms of RLS for years that I didn't recognize, but th...

A heating pad works for me

I'm new to posting on this discussion board, but I've been reading many of the posts about non-pharmacological "aids". I have not seen anything so far about the use of a heating pad. My heating pad is rectangular and somewhat large, and it has helped me to be able to stay in bed throughout...
