Re: RLS after surgery
First, you have to change doctors! Yours should be shot. After sneaking my drugs into the hospital to self-medicate I figured I'd let the hospital take care of me at my last surgery. Big mistake...BIG! The nurses were not apprised of my RLS and I had to wait until "rounds" to be given my m...

Re: Swollen legs and ankles exacerbates RLS
Just short of a year later, another update. Have no idea what prompted the itching but seems to have gone through its cycle, reappearing only every few months on single occasions. Mostly wear TEDs now (because I can't afford the high cost of compression stockings) but give myself breaks every now an...

Swollen legs and ankles exacerbates RLS
It is interesting to read some of the new posts since I last logged in. Have had great success for at least 2 years on my 1.5 ropinirol 3x/da -- plus 2 hydrocodone (7.5/325) with each ropinirol dose. I am of the firm conviction that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." However, within the pa...

Re: Ropinirole (Requip) and hair loss
I suppose I should give an update since I'm the OP. Making virtually no changes in meds, it seemed my hair was starting to thicken up again shortly after my last post. Guess what? Around Thanksgiving 2011, it started falling out again and is now growing in again. My annual molt? I've never lost as m...

My Dr.'s nurse thought of me!
I was going to title this "Ongoing Education Requirements for Medical Professionals"...which it is...but that sounds REAAAALY DRY so I hope this title will pull more people in. If I have had any concerns about my neurologist's interest in RLS, apparently I have made some impact on his nurs...

Thanks guys. I know it seems a minor issue when compared with most of you guys that can't sleep more than 2 hours at a time. I guess there's a time to let go of some of that pride. At least if I were on chemo, I'd know that the hair would grow back. My neuro was very agreeable about letting me stay ...

Ropinirole (Requip) and hair loss
First let me say that I've had exceptional good luck for quite a few months on 1.5 mg Requip and 7.5 hydrocodone each, 3x daily. (That's 4.5mg Requip & 23.5mg hydroc.) I sleep well, and do pretty well with no episodes of RLS between doses as long as I remember to take them on time (which setting...

Be aware of all the other foods with corn syrup (if it is the offender). Bread, non-diet soda pop, jellies, canned fruits/applesauce, even some spaghetti sauce, and I would imagine some salad dressings too. If I might be allowed to hijack my own thread, 8 weeks out from knee replacement surgery, I w...

Trigger testing
I have all but discontinued use of my beloved hazelnut coffee, drinking about 2 cups of decaf every 3 weeks. Chocolate has not been as easy (would have thought it the other way around). Read on someone's post a few weeks ago about ice cream being a trigger. Well, guess what? I usually ate a small bo...
