RLS in only one leg?

Hello. I've had RLS for a decade, but for the past month I've had it only in the left leg not in the right. Why would this be happening?

Re: Can you think your way out of an RLS episode?

Luckily I've only suffered RLS ten years so far, and only from 7pm onward, so any medical situations I've no problems. I realise with the degenerative nature of the disorder, it'll be something that will be a problem in the future.

Re: Can you think your way out of an RLS episode?

RThom, that's the situation I was trying to describe, you put it more clearly- you can out think pain successfully if you are strong mentally, but could RLS be defeated with thoughts alone. It seems from replies so far that it just can't. As much as you couldn't out think breathing for any length of...

Re: Can you think your way out of an RLS episode?

Thanks for sharing that, Beth. That must have been so distressing for you. I might try the technique of attempting to mentally deflect the sensation to a different part of the body though. Interested to see if I could control it.

Can you think your way out of an RLS episode?

I've asked on here before has anyone been able to just keep still and ride out the RLS feeling, I certainly can never manage it. It's 12.48am here in Ireland and I'm on the sofa to let my husband sleep because my arms keep going nuts. I was trying to mentally out-think it tonight. Imagining it's jus...

Best description of RLS for someone who hasn't had it

My RLS is getting worse, jerking in the night when before it was only troubling when I was trying to get to sleep. How could you describe the feeling to someone who hasn't had it. I'd like to show my kick-suffering husband this thread. To me it's like a build up of electricity and I have to get my a...

Rude Requip Question!

I am mortified having to ask this- the only fortunate thing is this being a locked message board! I started Requip about 6 weeks ago and it's done the job completely. I just have this rather embarrassing side effect. I keep waking my husband up making loud sex noises and wriggling about! He keeps ge...

Can Requip cause joint pain?

My excellent doctor knew exactly what I meant by RLS, and prescribed me the starter pack of Requip. I've been on a tiny, tiny dose the past two weeks, but am increasingly finding the jitters replaced by dull aching in my hips and knees. A bit like the feeling of growing pains as a child. Has anyone ...

Electrical build up is EXACTLY how I try to describe the feeling. It's like it's charging up and will explode if you don't move.

Scarlet, that's exactly what I wondered, if a machine to move your legs would help. Interesting to know. Thought it was probably more likely the action of the muscles changing from relaxed to tense.

Movement as a relief for RLS?

I was wondering- when your legs go into RLS, if someone else moved them for you; as in physically raised and lowered them- would that bring relief? Or is the relief only because you work the muscles to move your own legs? Does muscle contraction disperse the antsy feeling, or is the physical moving ...

I would avoid. One Nytol (UK brand of same drug) and I'm GUARNTEED a bout of my maximum RLS symptoms. If you take it alongside cocodamol it will knock you out quick enough, but not only is it a race against the symtoms, but I also suspect when I do this it's not safe. Chemist would most likely not s...

The electrical feeling is only made worse by the inability to explain what it actually feels like to someone who hasn't had RLS. So glad I found this forum to share with other sufferers!

Fluoxetine is the generic name for Prozac, so yes it's the exact same thing.
I'm 30 now, so I expect my symptoms to only get worse over time.
