Re: lorazepam and RLS

2Basset, I would not rely solely on clonazepam. For me, I have to take it with gabapentin or something else if it doesn't work. For some reason taking the 2 drugs don't seem to bother me. Betty, It sounds awful what you are going through. I hope you get some reprieve soon. Thank you for the new benz...

Re: lorazepam and RLS

I just wrote a long post and it disappeared! :(

I think I want to focus on the anxiety as it's easier to sleep when you are just depressed.

Ann,
Thank you for the great link!

Beth,
Thanks for the new Benzo.

I will get back to all of you soon!

lorazepam and RLS

I am seriously needing either an antidepressant or anti anxiety. Do you know if Lorazepam (formerly Ativan) works with RLS? I was looking for the drug list they used to have and did not see it. I was also thinking about calling the foundation to see which benzodiazepams and opioids work with RLS, bu...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

excellent post! I've been wanting and REALLY needing to get on either an anti-anxiety or antidepressant, but I'm so concerned that it will activate my RLS. For the past month, I have really been suffering something terrible. Something has to give.

Yes, I have heard some wonderful things about this. It's unfortunate that it's expensive and insurance does not cover.

Thank you! I have a lot of hope for managing these symptoms better IF I can get the transfusion.

Re: First night of methadone

I tried methadone a few years ago and got a grand total of 0 hours of sleep. I did this twice, even cutting the dosage and taking it in the morning and still got 0 hours of sleep. I wish I could find a med that consistently worked. It's like I'm afraid to take meds more than a few nights in a row fo...

Re: Rate of Ferritin Decline

I'm hoping to get my first transfusion this year. Have an appointment schedule (on the books) with William Ondo in September. It would be interesting to see if people were semi cured with the transfusions coupled with a good diet. With that said, I realize there are some here where diet does not imp...

Re: Another year of relief

Congratulations on the relief! I know I have to be on a paleo diet or I'm in serious RLS pain. I looked at the low oxalate diet and it looks like I'm not eating high oxalate foods anyway. But I could try cutting out walnuts and advacados for a while and see what happens. Like the others, I am skepti...

Re: Raising iron levels

I was doing enzymes with my iron for a couple of weeks and THOUGHT I noticed a difference, but then got off it and have not tracked it since. Not sure if the enzymes could help digest the iron better which might help get to the brain. Will let you know if I see any significant improvement, but first...

Re: fresh coconut

It doesn't necessarily help the RLS, but what it does do is raise energy levels which can be a good substitute for caffiene, and it's a good source of non heme iron and it's generally good for you. It also is high fat, but not the kind that is bad for you. Right now, I'm doing some research on the f...

I'm glad it's helpful for her. Also, the weather is much nicer in CO so I'm sure your enjoying that too.

Re: Two hours of sleep

Deb,
Yes, I've been there many more times than I would have liked. It sounds like something else is going on that is exacerbating the RLS. I'm not sure where you would get that checked out i.e. neurologist or orthopedics?
