Re: Going off of opioids

I was on 60 to 80 mg of Oxycontin per day for RLS for several years and then I had to withdraw per the doctor. It was pure hell, the worse thing I have ever had to do. Just grit your teeth and put up with it. It didn't get manageable for me until around week 3. Your circadian rhythm will be really s...

Re: itching, histamine release

The itching is all over; arms, legs scalp, torso, face. You name it, it itches.

Re: RLS friendly H2 Agonist

I have taken Prevacid for years (60 mg per day) and it has never bothered me. It is a H2 blocker as well.

itching, histamine release

Dr B. had me withdrawa from oxycodone because I had let it ramp up to 60 to 80 mg a day for my RLS. At that dosage the RLS was controlled but obviously the dose was too high. He had me taper down to 20 a day and then cold turkey the rest of the way. I was on 0 mg for 30 days but was having to take R...

Re: Oxycodone withdrawal

I had become tolerant to the Oxycodone and it took more and more of the drug to get the results in order to treat the RLS. I was up to 80 mg a day. As far as the insomnia goes, that is why I posted this, I have no idea what to do. It seems to me that it should have started to resolve by now. Today i...

Re: Oxycodone withdrawal

Actually I think it's the opioid withdrawal that's the culprit. I know it's causing the insomnia but it seems like it should have abated by now. I am up until three or four AM before I can even think about going to sleep. Any input as to how long it generally lasts? I thought it was suppose to be ac...

Re: Oxycodone withdrawal

I had tapered the Oxycodone down from 80 mg a day to 15 mg a day when Dr. B encouraged me to take the jump. I know 80 mg down to 15 mg is nothing compared to what hard core drug users do, but it is what it is and to me going cold turkey from 15 mg is still hell. If I don't take the Requip I can expe...

Oxycodone withdrawal

I am on day 10 of quitting oxycodone cold turkey. What an absolute nightmare. I have gone cold turkey twice before but I was using Norco then. Just to be clear, the opiates were prescribed by Dr B. and were not recreational. Getting off of Oxycodone is the absolute worse thing I have ever dealt with...

Thanks, I'll call them and let you know what they said. Not really planning on being an active participant any time soon (67 years old), just planning ahead.

Re: ropinirole and me

Yeah, you need to get off of the Requip. When I went to see Dr. B the first time I was taking 14 mg a day. He got me off of that by putting me on Oxycodone. But there in lies the rub. You get dependent on that too and then you have to go through opiate withdrawal in order to get off of that. I'm not...

Relaxsis Pad

I know the Relaxsis Pad isn't a medication but since you do need a prescription to purchase it I thought I would post this here. Dr B has told me on several occasions that I am in the top 1% of his toughest cases of RLS that he has. Well I proved him correct again. I received the pad today, had high...

Re: Quitting Oxycodone

Yes I have tried Methadone. It makes me extremely nauseated, as with most meds, and after about three days, nausea turns to vomiting. I have tried it three different occasions, several months apart and the result is the same. But thanks for the idea.

Re: Quitting Oxycodone

Thanks for the above responses With regard to EeFall, did he/she go back on the same opiate they just got off of? Once the clock was rest, did they ramp up the dosage over time and thus starts the cycle all over again? This all seems like a hopeless never ending mess. One thing in my favor, I just g...

Quitting Oxycodone

This is my first post in probably 2 years. To make a long story short, for the last 4 years Dr. B has tried all meds and tricks known to mankind, and do to serious augmentation or side effects that were not tolerable,we had to settle on taking solely Oxycodone. I slowly had to ramp up the dosage to ...
