Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I'm getting anxious to try and wean off Methadon, but I need to wait. I'm sure I will have withdrawal symptoms, but I'm interested to see if I will have any RLS after that. I was able to walk outside yesterday. It was warm enough. I have now had 2 nights in a row of being able to sleep, 5 total nigh...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I slept last night without any spasms. It is the third night since the surgery, which was 8 weeks ago. 11 hours I want to wait until I have many nights in a row before I try to wean off methadone then maybe the gabapentin. I did have a few spasms while I was watching TV. I got up, they went away, th...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Last night was the first night that I didn't have spasms all night long ( like waking me up every two hours ). They woke me up after the first 2 hours. Then I walked for 30 min. Went back to bed and sleep 9 hours, with a bathroom break. It's the afternoon and I'm sleepy again. I just walked another ...

Re: Any luck with a sleep study?

Distraction must eliminate your stress. Srtess contributes to RLS.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I've made more progress. Last week I was able to get into our vechicle by my self. This week I can now get into drivers side, so I can drive. Our SUV is a little higher than most. Started out using a little step. Walking is going well. No longer using the walker. I do use the small cart at the store...

Re: Any luck with a sleep study?

I was reluctant to have a sleep study. I had had RLS for 10 years, when they wanted me to have a sleep study. They found I had sleep apnea. They told me that untreated sleep apnea made RLS worse, plus my legs also moved a lot during sleep. It took me a long time to get used to wearing a mask. I coul...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I think I'm feeling better, even though it's not over yet. I am supposed to walk 60 min. a day. I have accomplished that, plus I'm allowed to start using my recumbent bike. All of this will help bring the nerves that were blocked come alive. So happy about that. I ride when the spasms start. I am ho...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Had my 6 weeks check up. He thinks I'm improving well. Going to increase my Gabapentin, from 2 times a day to three times a day. 600 mg each time. He says it will take 2 weeks to take affect.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Today was last day of Soma. I had been worried that I would have some withdrawal symptoms, but I don't think so. I did take an extra methadone, around 3 am due to spasms. I was able to sleep. The spasms seem to have lessened some, but enough so I couldn't sleep.
No oxycodone tonight.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Had to take 2 oxycodone to finally sleep last night. I don't want to take it every night. I have noticed that the spasms are not as strong. I was just in bed for the last two hours, with spasms coming, mild enough to tolerate them for the short period of time. Now, I decided to take an extra methado...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

They have me on Soma. I've decided to wean off this also. I'm thinking that it probably is also contributing to spasms.
I didn't sleep last night or today. Everytime I try, spasms start. They aren't as bad as a few days ago, but enough to keep me from sleeping.
Feeling pretty bad tonight.

Funny, my Doctor just told me yesterday, that she wanted me to try it. I don't think I will.

Stopping benadryl and amitriptyline. Will see what happens this week. I see the surgeon Monday. I haven't had much sleep.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Spasms are worse tonight. Had them all day too. So maybe it is the benadry and amitriptyline.
