Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I think I will wait quite awhile before I try to reduce methadone.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

It will be interesting to see if I have any RLS as I reduce meds. I have had 9 nights without spasms in the last 2 months. Still waiting for two nights in a row.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I am past the 3 month post op. No more restrictions. Overall I am better. I think as time goes by it will just get better. I hope I will be able to reduce meds.

Re: Characteristics of PLMD/PLMs

Deb, all the standard descriptions of the movements go out the window when medication side effect or augmentation come into play. If you've seen my sleep video, my movements during augmentation look nothing like expected. I was accused of faking it because my movements did not fit "normal"...

Re: Vicks Vapo-Rub on Soles of Feet

My husband uses it around his toes to heal fungus. It works. Healed his feet, then keeps it away.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I've had so many good nights and about 7 with no spasms at all. Last night spasms would hardly stop. I could get away with rubbing my leg a lot of the time, but had to ride my bike several times instead of pacing. I was up all night. I finally took an oxy about 7:30 this morning. Just slept 4 hours....

Re: where is everyone?

Oh Betty, I hope the two of you are feeling better. He probably has a a lifting restriction for awhile. I have been losing my balance some lately. We must all try to be as careful as possible. I am almost done with my bending restrictions, but I have been dropping everything. Using my reacher to pic...

Re: Bed Recommendation!

Mattresses are only supposed to last about 10 years. My mattress that is only about 4 years is starting to show wear. Like everything else they make things to wear out so we have to buy a new one.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

A pattern seems to have developed. I sleep for about 2 hours, spasms wake me up or I just wake up for a bathroom break. Then I'm awake for 2 to 4 hours. Then I am usually able to sleep the rest of the time without spasms, but with bathroom breaks every 3 to 4 and up to 6 hours. Most nights total 12 ...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Thank you. I'm not home free yet. I get different symptoms every few days, they sort of rotate. It's the nerves waking up. Last night was difficult. Lots of burning nerve pain in the groin. The difference is the area has gotten smaller, much smaller. Sometimes it's like pins and needles in my leg in...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I'm getting anxious to try and wean off Methadon, but I need to wait. I'm sure I will have withdrawal symptoms, but I'm interested to see if I will have any RLS after that. I was able to walk outside yesterday. It was warm enough. I have now had 2 nights in a row of being able to sleep, 5 total nigh...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

I slept last night without any spasms. It is the third night since the surgery, which was 8 weeks ago. 11 hours I want to wait until I have many nights in a row before I try to wean off methadone then maybe the gabapentin. I did have a few spasms while I was watching TV. I got up, they went away, th...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Last night was the first night that I didn't have spasms all night long ( like waking me up every two hours ). They woke me up after the first 2 hours. Then I walked for 30 min. Went back to bed and sleep 9 hours, with a bathroom break. It's the afternoon and I'm sleepy again. I just walked another ...
