Re: Ropinirole and Clonazepam works for me!

Hi Beth, thanks for the advice. Difficult to suffer it out really, cos it will keep me awake until 3am and gone, and I have to get up at 6am! Better really for me to avoid the temptations in the evenings, which mostly I can do. I did have my ferritin level checked, and think it was about 54, which I...

Re: Ropinirole and Clonazepam works for me!

Hi QyX and Tracy, thanks for your replies. I was worried that Clonazepam might make me depressed but it hasn't so far! And thanks Tracy for your advice - I'm going back to the neurologist in October so he can keep an eye on me - it will have been a year at that point. So far, so good ... and I must ...

Ropinirole and Clonazepam works for me!

Hi all, just had to share this. I have finally found a solution that works for me - 1mg of Ropinirole and 500 mcg of Clonazepam per night about 45 mins before going to bed. My own GP knew very little about the condition (I have PLMD as well as RLS) although was willing to look at the amazing informa...

Re: Vicks Vapo-Rub on Soles of Feet

Hi all, I tried the Vicks Vaporub - and it worked, but only for a few days sadly! I've been weaning myself off Ropinirole and on to Gabapentin, but the latter made me too tired during the day, so in desperation I tried the vaporub and was amazed to be able to take just .25mg of ropinirole and 100mg ...

Re: does anyone really know what sets off their symptoms?

Hi Deb and Ann I discovered these triggers by chance really - I just started noticing that, after indulging in the now "after 7pm forbidden foods", my RLS/PLMD was a nightmare, even kicking in after I'd taken my nightly 3.5mg of Ropinirole. I'm currently weaning myself off Ropinirole and g...

Re: Research

Hi both Yes, I'm lucky to have found him - except he's not my own GP. He's part of a private practice which my firm pays for us to visit free of charge - but I do have his name and will know to ask for him if I have any more RLS-related questions. He seemd to know about Ropinirole and Gabapentin and...

Re: Gabapentin, cough and husky voice

Hi Polar Bear
This may sound strange, but I hope I am just sick and this is not a reaction to Gabapentin! Have headache, cough, husky voice and blocked up nose, plus a fever last night, all of which can be side effects apparently. Think I'll have to leave it another week and see how I am ...

Doesn't sound good. I'm actually off work today cos I feel so lousy. Sounds like it's back to the drawing board for me!

Re: Gabapentin, cough and husky voice

Ah, thanks rthom, was really hoping it was a one off bug cos it's really quite severe. I sound like I've got laryngitis! Will have to see how it goes and maybe revisit my GP if it doesn't go away. Sigh.

Gabapentin, cough and husky voice

Hi all I've been on Requip for about two and a half years and was getting near to the maximum dose you can take, so went to my GP, armed with some helpful docs re RLS/PLMD medicines which I found on this amazing site, and the upshot is that I've started taking Gabapentin while reducing my intake of ...

Research

Hi all I thought you might be interested to hear that I've just been to a GP who told me that he attended a conference recently all about RLS and said that there is "lots and lots" of research going on about it now - I thought that was really nice to know! Refreshing change, considering th...

Re: does anyone really know what sets off their symptoms?

Hi all Just thought I'd add what triggers my symptoms. Without a doubt, for me it's anything with salt in it, anything with sugar in it and alcohol. Just kill me now. Sometimes I can get away with having, say, a slice of bread or a cookie after 7pm and it doesn't make it worse, but maybe that's beca...

Re: new to here, unfortunately not new to RLS

Hi Helen, thanks for your sympathy, and I'm so sorry that you're having so little sleep. I know just how exhausting it is. I am very lucky in that the Requip does usually work well for me, although I do need to sort something out with my GP about the fact I'm having to take more and more of it befor...
