Re: Gabapentin withdraw symptoms

Gabapentin didn't work for me, but I did have significant withdrawal symptoms when I gave up on it. Finally I had to taper really slowly--cutting the pills in half, and then in fourths. I may even have had to go to eighths. Can't remember.

Re: Hyland's Restful Legs

Before my RLS got so bad, I used to use this. It usually helped some. Now that the RLS has gotten much worse it doesn't usually work well at all.

Re: Super interesting connection between opioids and cannabis...

Yes, very interesting. There is also a considerable body of anecdotes saying that kratom has helped people get off of opioids. And kratom does not make you high.

I'm so glad we have this new research. Maybe, sooner or later, we can com up with good long term treatments for RLS.

Re: Dr. Gundry's supplement

When I first started with kratom I took 1/2 tsp. as needed--usually every 2-4 hours at night sometimes once during the afternoon if I wanted to nap. As the years passed I developed some tolerance, and now take 1 tsp. or maybe a little more instead of 1/2 tsp. I don't keep a careful track. Pretty muc...

Re: Dr. Gundry's supplement

Thanks, Beth. This is very helpful. For some reason, it still seems to be controlling my RLS. I still get a fair amount of pain from the knee replacement, but I am not recognizing any RLS symptoms at the present. But, as I said, I am still taking some kratom for pain relief, so I can't be sure yet. ...

Dr. Gundry's supplement

I've just had something unexpected happen. I ordered something called Gundry MD Total Restore Gut Lining Support Blend 90 Capsules from Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Gundry-Restore-Lining-Support-Capsules/dp/B07G6624KR/ref=sr_1_9?crid=3KKQ7Y3WM8PK5&keywords=gundry+md+total+restore&qid=155...

Re: What DA to take

Thanks, Beth. I appreciate your concern, and that was certainly my original plan. The first two days, while I was taking .25 ms. of ropinirole I was also tapering off of kratom, and my symptoms were covered pretty well. Then I went to .5 ropinirole, with no kratom, and my symptoms weren't covered at...

Re: What DA to take

Thanks to everyone for the good advice. My primary care prescribed ropinirole--.25 ms. once at night for the first two nights, and then .50 at night. So last night I took the .25 pill. The RLS was slightly muted but not gone by any means. So finally I took a little kratom with the idea that legsbest...

Re: What DA to take

Thanks, Steve. I read on some discussion board last night that since kratom affects the mu receptors, you build up a bit of a tolerance to opioids, which an anesthesiologist needs to know about. So I called the clinic doing the surgery and explained my issue to a nurse. She had an anesthesiologist c...

What DA to take

I am scheduled for a knee replacement next week, and have been told to stop taking kratom. `I've explained to various medical people (cardiologist, primary care, physical therapist, etc.) that I take it to control the symptoms of RLS and ask what I could take instead of kratom. No one has any idea; ...

Re: Update, Funny but True

Eefall, just a note to say how sorry I am about the estrangement with your son. With me, the good news is that I am very close to my adult children. The bad news is that they understand since both of my daughters (not yet my son) also have RLS, although not yet as bad as mine. They are just about wh...

Re: Melatonin

The only sleep medicine I have ever taken is melatonin, and it works well for me. But I just have RLS, not periodic leg movement. Perhaps that is the difference. And I don't take very much--anywhere from .5 to 3 mg. I take it with kratom at night.

Re: Kratom and insomnia

You might try melatonin. That, with a little L-theanine and Magnesium, really help me. The only thing I take for my RLS is kratom, but it doesn't seem to help me sleep.

Re: total knee replacement

Thanks so much, debbluebird and Holland, for your sensible advice. I hadn't really thought of combining kratom with a small dose of a DA, but will recommend it to my PC and I'm sure she will prescribe the DA--so a half a tablet of a .125 Mirapex tablet? And since you managed to get both knees done a...

total knee replacement

I am scheduled for a total knee replacement this January. I am wondering if anyone else has had one, and if so how you managed your rls symptoms while waiting for the knee to heal. Currently I am controlling my rls with kratom, but I usually have to walk at least a few minutes after taking it for it...
