You feel fine and then you lie down . . . !

It happens to me so much. I took some kratom a couple of hours ago, and have felt fine until I try lying down. Then my legs start up! For me, this works: I've bought a big roll of tubular elastic bandage on Amazon, and cut strips the size of where the RLS attacks my legs. Then I rub a little Hemp cr...

Re: Augmentation tied to stroke ?

Ann, in one of the posts on here you talk about having a hard time not forgiving yourself for being on a DA for so long. Maybe it will make you feel better if you know that the horrific early experiences you had were what convinced me to stay far away from the DA's. I can't even tell you how many do...

Re: What’s the end game?

Hi Bridgercan, I've had episodes of RLS for at least 40 years. I'm a female, and 80 next month. While I have vivid memories of not being able to sit on a couch and chat with friends at parties, and having a very hard time on airplanes, on the whole I was sleeping pretty well until about 13 years ago...

Re: RLS and Hypertension

I would second debbluebird's suggestion of a wrist b/p monitor. That's what I use, and I think it is accurate. But I'm just wondering now how many rls people have high nighttime b/p. The pill I take right before bed is completely controlling it now. But I may have had untreated b/p for years, since ...

Re: RLS and Hypertension

Thanks, Steve. That's really a helpful reply. It's especially helpful to know that I might be able occasionally to take a DA.

Re: RLS and Hypertension

I thought I should update. I saw my primary care doc and she said she figured that the RLS was causing the high blood pressure at night, and that I needed something more than kratom, since it was very important to control the RLS. So she prescribed ropinirole, in spite of my trying to talk about aug...

Re: RLS and Hypertension

Steve, it's good to know that hypertension doesn't always go along with RLS. When I was in college, many years ago, a doctor put me on meds to raise my BP as it was "too low" then. But raising it a "normal" level made me very jttery, so I stopped taking it. Of course, now I'm wondering if, in fact, ...

RLS and Hypertension

Hi Everyone, This may be a topic that most of your know about, but it is new to me. I've had RLS for probably 40 years (I'm almost 80) and during this time have seen many doctors that I've discussed it with. During the exam, they always take my blood pressure, but I've been pleased and relieved that...

Re: Top of foot pain and RLS

Yes, I frequently get pain in the top of my foot but I’m quite sure it is arthritis. I also get it in my hands. Rubbing a little hemp cream into my skin helps quite a bit.

Re: Advice for Overnight Flight

My primary care gives me a prescription for oxy—usually just ten tablets. I usually rely on kratom and save the oxy for times when I can’t wLk around. So because I rarely use it I have no tolerance. Even on a long, overnight flight— like from Honolulu to Newark— one, or at the most two oxy will usua...

Re: Lyrica

Oh Lissa, I am so sorry you are going through this! I was put on Lyrica--my primary care doc's effort to get me off of kratom--and I took about 100 mg. for a year. But I still needed the kratom, and so tapered off the Lyrica. Coming off was not hard, and I felt much better off of it. My primary care...

Apomorphine

One of my neighbors is a Russian doctor, and her husband has serious RLS. They often visit Israel, and the last time they were there she said her husband was having such a difficult time with the RLS that they went to a neurologist there, and he gave him Apomorphine. She speaks with a heavy accent, ...

DEA changes to telemedicine prescribing rules

There are only 4 days to submit a comment about this DEA change, which will make it much harder to get medication from a telemedicine appointment for RLS. If traveling is difficult for you--for example, I'm 79 and have an 81-year-old husband with diabetes and vision loss--I think it would be a good ...

Re: Gabapentin Withdrawal

I was on a much lower dose but it still took me weeks to get off it. I very slowly went down one pill at a time and after I got to the last pill I had to cut it in half and then that half into halves, etc. Doing it that way I avoided the withdrawal symptoms. Oh, also I took kratom while doing it to ...
