Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

My appointment with the doctor to continue my prescription for Suboxone was different this time. I had to give a urine sample. I viewed the results online and it was a drug test. I also had to fill out several pages regarding if I were drinking, taking drugs, and mood questions. My sleep doctor said...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

You have a point there about falling, I will have to workout a way not to injure myself. I can't even count the number of times I have fallen asleep on my feet and slammed into a wall though, but as one gets older I can see how that could become very dangerous. At one point when I was getting off of...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

JimmyLegs44, Exactly what I am talking about and I am happy to hear it is working for you. I've already gotten most all of my relatives hating me and I know it has a lot to do with the Suboxone I take. I took Lyrica also, at one point I was taking 5 medications at the same time for RLS. Augmented on...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

Polar Bear, Perhaps I am growing tired of the illness and it has finally driven me a little mad, or maybe a lot. A 100 years ago or whatever age had no medication for RLS what would we have done then? Just think though if the power of thinking itself could let us instead of thinking of severe RLS as...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

Polar Bear, I am being serious. If I don’t take medication then I really never sleep or sit down. I’m just saying that maybe I should try to live with it and not take Suboxone anymore. I’m retired and don’t need to work. Why not embrace the total actual hell that god has given me? He created a monst...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

Holland, Thanks for your concern. I can’t commit suicide I am too much of a coward and there are still a few billion things I would like to know about our existence. Doctors know I am depressed and they basically tell me they would be also living in my shoes. Sometimes it is just a fact of life, a r...

For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

I used to be a nice guy before RLS 20 years ago began to creep into my life, although I now know it was around for decades before that. I used to have friends and family who loved me. Almost 19 years ago I was diagnosed with severe RLS. It became slowly worse over the years and I went through dozens...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I have taken Tylenol-Codeine #3 but not for RLS. Actually I think it made my RLS worse but then it could be drug interactions. The list of side effects for Suboxone are huge but as with other drugs it will either work for you or it won’t. My major complaint is it makes me itchy at night and have to ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Polar Bear, You should try Suboxone for RLS. Your sleep sounds like my sleep before Suboxone. I don't understand why Suboxone is not prescribed more for RLS except that not just any ole doc can prescribe it, they have to go through special training of some sort. My insurance won't cover it here beca...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Oh !! what happy happy joy indeed !! 7 hours sleep. I know that I haven't slept longer than 2 hours at a time, often had no sleep, and never had more that 5 hours fragmented sleep in at least 21 years. I can accurately date at least that far back in my sleep pattern because of a particular event. I...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I did go back up to 4 mg of Suboxone a day and had over 7 hours sleep last night. I had gotten myself down to 3mg about a year ago but I guess it turned out to not be a high enough dose in the long run. Happy happy joy joy :D

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

It is strange but when I am yawning like crazy just before going to bed it means I probably won't be able to go to sleep. Last night that happened and I realized that the Suboxone was not working at all. I went and took another 1/3 extra of a 2mg sublingual stripe and ended up pacing for several hou...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

EeFall—I'm glad to hear there are still many things you enjoy in life and hope they continue to outweigh the negatives. I am now reading a book (which is several meditation books) by Marcus Aurelius an Emperor of Rome around the year 170. Even though it is some 1800+ years ago it is amazing how he ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I’m just happy to be alive and fully retired. I’m sick of apologizing to idiots, even family members, who don’t understand how severe RLS has changed me - there are many things in life I enjoy and I just have to be able to enjoy being me.

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Eefall - thank you for telling us how you are, we care how you are. As I write this in is 14.30 my time. I am standing doing a jig from one foot to the other... unable to get on with some paperwork because sitting down is impossible. Perhaps I will do some ironing until these symptoms hopefully set...
