Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I have taken Tylenol-Codeine #3 but not for RLS. Actually I think it made my RLS worse but then it could be drug interactions. The list of side effects for Suboxone are huge but as with other drugs it will either work for you or it won’t. My major complaint is it makes me itchy at night and have to ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Polar Bear, You should try Suboxone for RLS. Your sleep sounds like my sleep before Suboxone. I don't understand why Suboxone is not prescribed more for RLS except that not just any ole doc can prescribe it, they have to go through special training of some sort. My insurance won't cover it here beca...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Oh !! what happy happy joy indeed !! 7 hours sleep. I know that I haven't slept longer than 2 hours at a time, often had no sleep, and never had more that 5 hours fragmented sleep in at least 21 years. I can accurately date at least that far back in my sleep pattern because of a particular event. I...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I did go back up to 4 mg of Suboxone a day and had over 7 hours sleep last night. I had gotten myself down to 3mg about a year ago but I guess it turned out to not be a high enough dose in the long run. Happy happy joy joy :D

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

It is strange but when I am yawning like crazy just before going to bed it means I probably won't be able to go to sleep. Last night that happened and I realized that the Suboxone was not working at all. I went and took another 1/3 extra of a 2mg sublingual stripe and ended up pacing for several hou...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

EeFall—I'm glad to hear there are still many things you enjoy in life and hope they continue to outweigh the negatives. I am now reading a book (which is several meditation books) by Marcus Aurelius an Emperor of Rome around the year 170. Even though it is some 1800+ years ago it is amazing how he ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I’m just happy to be alive and fully retired. I’m sick of apologizing to idiots, even family members, who don’t understand how severe RLS has changed me - there are many things in life I enjoy and I just have to be able to enjoy being me.

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Eefall - thank you for telling us how you are, we care how you are. As I write this in is 14.30 my time. I am standing doing a jig from one foot to the other... unable to get on with some paperwork because sitting down is impossible. Perhaps I will do some ironing until these symptoms hopefully set...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I'm so sorry that this awful syndrome has affected your life in such a traumatic way. It is a disastrous syndrome. We can't fully explain how it feels or how it impacts our lives. I have one suggestion and you may have already tried it but here goes. Talk to a licensed psychologist or counselor. We...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Thanks for the note. I am too curious about the universe to kill myself, sometimes I wish I wasn’t but I will ride the wave (life) to the end. It is just that it has turned out to be a lonely beach. At least I can still read, tend the garden, and watch movies. My wife has remained after 43 years, at...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

I created this thread 4 years ago and I have reallly crashed and burned this time. My son has given up on me so I won’t even be able to see my grandkids again. He doesn’t understand how RLS messes with me. I have tried to be normal but I’m not. If I was anymore introverted I would be living in a cav...

Re: What Severe RLS is Like

 Since retirement 80% of ebooks and audio I read are downloaded from library, pretty cool and inexpensive. The Library ebooks actually go through amazon kindle. I am reading so much now like 6 books right now and hooked on a comic book series Valerian and Laureline SF. Haven’t read comics since...

Re: Kratom physiology

I take just Suboxone for RLS (after going through practically everything else over many years including methadone). I also take Kratom once in awhile now mostly to snap me out of depressive moods but it also helps my RLS. I keep a large supply that I purchased online in case I can no longer obtain o...

Re: Recent restrictions on length of opioid prescriptions

I recently went to my YEARLY appointment with my sleep doctor to renew my Suboxone for another year, but because of the pressure being put on doctors (the doctor told me this) he now wants to see me every 6 months to extend my prescription for Suboxone (buprenorphine which is an opioid). I have no i...

Re: "drug holiday" from Mirapex

I also took pramipexole for 6 years and it worked really well until augmentation. The mistake I made (and my doctor) was trying to keep using it on and off for several years after that. If I could rewind time I would have called it good after six years and would have never used it again. There are m...
