Re: RLS related

Yes, the driving issue is a big deal too. My wife is always asking me if I am ok to drive. I try to take it slow on the road My doctor did suggest a stimulant in the past (D-Amphetamine Salt Combo...aka...Adderall?) and I didn't see any effect. I would certainly be willing to try the others. I will ...

Re: RLS related

Thank you all for the very helpful responses. I've had RLS for 7 years. The night pain symptoms weren't always controlled as well as they are now, so I can relate to what is being said (and be thankful to have a treatment). I can also totally understand the 'under the desk' comment, as I am often am...

RLS related

Hello. I am a 48 year old man. My RLS symptoms have been well controlled by Medications (Mirapex, Horizant) and I experience no pain or jerking at night. What I do get however, is extreme sleepiness all day long if I do not sleep until at least 9:30 or so. I go to bed early at 10:30 or 11:00. I've t...

Re: Requip kicked my butt

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I thought it was too much. Interestingly, my neurologist wrote a clinical paper related to RLS. So I would have expected him to know the correct dosage. I need to follow up with the office. Something might have been lost in translation between the doctor and the office...

Requip kicked my butt

I was trying to get off Mirapex. My Neurologist had me try Horizant supplemented with Tramadol. I got off Mirapex, but the Horizant wasn't working. So, he wrote me a prescription for 2mg of Requip..... I took it at 7pm. About 7:20 I started to feel funny... like severe flu symptoms. Started throwing...

Re: Mirapex to Horizant

I got the doctors book. I will take a look. I think the Horizant just hasnt been working.

My doctor office finally got back to me and recommended I take Requip 2mg. That is a whole big other story (I just posted separately on this)

Re: Mirapex to Horizant

Thanks to all the nice responses. Interestingly enough, after making my post I friday I needed to go out of town for the weekend. There were storms in Michigan that knocked out the power to the hotel I was staying at. The elevators weren't working, so I made 4 or 5 trips up 4 flights of stairs durin...

Mirapex to Horizant

Hi All, I've been on 0.5 generic Mirapex for 3 years to control severe RLS (no augmentation as of yet). I went to a new Neurologist who said they preferred Horizant ER. I tapered off the Mixarex with my last dose 2 weeks ago and had been taking 600 mg Horizant ER. After a few days I had lots of with...

Re: RLS or Separate Condition?

HI, Sorry about the long response time. I got engaged a few weeks ago and have been caught up in the flurry of Wedding Planning with my fiance'. Thanks for all the input, I will try the different suggestions (i.e. Vitamin D, Ferratin testing etc). I checked into the Zeo Sleep Manager. It certainly h...

Re: RLS or Separate Condition?

I would probably think the same thing about the pramipexole sleepiness except when I first went on it, I had no problems with being groggy. Actually I had WED a bit more than 2 years ago in a mild form. Then 2 years ago it suddenly became severe. Why is a mystery since I didnt have any lifestyle cha...

Re: RLS or Separate Condition?

Ok, thanks. Maybe I'll try splitting my primapexole dose to see if that affects anything too.

Re: RLS or Separate Condition?

Wow, I didnt realize that the standard dose was around 0.25. My primary physician said the 0.25 I was taking was too low. I've been up as high as 0.75 or 1mg. My WED is really severe in that I would not be able to sleep at all during the night without Medication. I tried avoiding pramipexole at the ...

Re: RLS or Separate Condition?

Thanks for the feedback. That may be worth considering, although the sleepiness does not feel like the groggy/foggy feeling of a medication side effect. I did try Requip awhile back as an alternative, but the RLS symptoms were terrible on the night I switched (I switched directly from the 0.5mg Mira...

RLS or Separate Condition?

Hi all, I'm a new user to the site. I developed severe RLS about 2 years ago. After seeing my doctor, he started me on Mirapex which helped immensely (I would be unable to sleep at night at all without it). A few months later, I noticed about an hour after waking, I would start feeling incredibly sl...
