Re: Gabapentin

The principle advantage that Horizant has over gabapentin is consistent adsorption in the gut. Once Horizant is in the blood stream, it becomes gabapentin. Gabapentin is only adsorbed by a short section of the intestinal tract, so it is difficult for some people to consistently get adsorption of the...

Re: Increasing REM sleep

I hope you don't have it. Thanks Holland. So far, I haven't progressed to the sleep walking stage where it can start to become dangerous. So far, all I have done is strike out against assailants in my dream and that has caused me to launch all of the bed covers onto the floor; grab my wife's arm; h...

Re: Increasing REM sleep

As an update to my post on Sept 15 that had to do with REM-Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD), I had an appointment with my RLS specialist yesterday and the discussion of this new issue for me took up most of the appointment. She said that she had never encountered a person with both RLS and RBD but agre...

Re: Increasing REM sleep

Decreased REM sleep has not been an issue for me when it comes to marijuana. In fact, I believe that I am getting more REM sleep than without THC because I am able to get more sleep in the late night hours (2-5A) than I was get on the nights without THC. However, I am beginning to suspect is that th...

Re: Clarify IV Iron recommendation please

Last question first - the benefits of iron IV's is not permanent. The time they are effective varies between individuals and I suspect some will provide their experience. You can expect many months of help, but not permanent. Also, there are no "cures" for RLS at this point. As for addicti...

Re: Switching from ropinirole to pramipexole/mirapex Starting dosage?

Since you were found you needed 1mg of ropinirole, then you may need to switch to 0.25mg of pramipexole. Both are the max recommended dose for treating RLS, so you should not go any higher with the dose. It might seem to help (assuming no more side effects) but eventually stopping will only be that ...

Re: I'm finally getting an infusion

Beth, I am glad that you were able to get the infusion even though it cost a fortune. And the fact that you got the visit with Ann and had the super bike experience makes the trip even better. I have mixed feelings about what to think about whether the infusion helps you. On the one hand, I would re...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

I have to agree with all of the comments above. Obviously it isn't good practice to lie or withhold information from your physician. However, if your doctor is so obviously ignorant and you cannot change, then what he doesn't know won't hurt you. Obviously he has no idea of what you have been going ...
