Re: Medical Marijuana

BeckyS, the research into MMJ for RLS is just getting started. The issue was that since it is still against federal law, any research lab that receives federal grant money, i.e. all of them, would jeopardize that funding if they didn't satisfy all of the federal requirements for studying Schedule 1 ...

Re: Help Please

Keppra and gabapentin are in the same class of anti-convulsant meds. The anti-convulsant meds are becoming the first line treatments for RLS, so it isn't surprising that the Keppra is helping with your RLS symptoms. But you might want talk with your doctors about taking both of them. As for the Neup...

Re: Specialist to see?

The specialties that are often the most knowledgeable or RLS are the neurologists who specialize in either sleep medicine or movement disorders. This means that you cannot simply look for a neurologist. There are about eight of them in my town and none of them knows anything about RLS. In addition t...

Re: Recently Diagnosed

No ED, but I regularly go up and down on my gabapentin dose because I have difficulty reaching orgasm when the dose gets to 900 or 1200.

Re: Social Security - US

Debbie filed for SSDI when she was 30 due to MS. It took 2 years of struggle before she was finally approved. At least at that time, over 90% of all applicants are turned down the first time around. For the first appeal, at least 50% were turned down at that stage. For the second appeal, you have to...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

Last month when I had to stop taking methadone due to the extreme apathy that it was causing, I initially thought "how much worse can it be than it was before I started treatment?" After all, I went for several years of severe RLS before changing doctors and being diagnosed in less than a ...

Re: Sleeping Arrangements

Sleepless, although I am the one with RLS and PLMS, I am also a very light sleeper. My wife has recently developed a mild form of PLMS, so I have an idea of what it is like to get kicked. She is the sound sleeper, so she sleeps through most of my tossing and turning. Our solution was the California ...
