Re: Requip
I was the one dragging my feet regarding the Oxy. I was so afraid of addiction but at this point that was the only drug family that I hadn't tried. My neurologist said that it was doubtful addiction would occur or if at all after a very long time. As my daughter said, so if you get addicted to it, t...

Re: Requip
Neurologist took me off the 2mg x4 a day one pill a week for 4 weeks of Ropinirole and added gabapentin increased to 9 x 300 a day for 2700 a day. I was told that the RLS would increase during the tapering off the Ropinirole. The holy hell began after taking the last ropinirole-RLS increased with a ...

Re: Transitioning to new meds
In answer to the ferratin level-I did have that checked and it is well over 100. I probably eat more protein than most people do so that helps that. After seeing neuro last week I am now on 300 gabapentin 9 x day for 2700. I finally got over effects-at least it would seem so anyway-of the ropinerole...

Re: Transitioning to new meds
I have taken Requip or ropinerol since 2006 and was on 2mg 4x a day for 8mg a day. Also on gabapentin at 300 x 3 a day. I believe the side effects from the ropinerol piled up and resulted in hallucinations, swollen feet and ankles, weight gain of about 40 pounds increased heart rate and blood pressu...

Re: New Treatment Being Developed
Just coming off Ro;inirole and it is hell! Put on gabapentin and had the worst night ever last night. So this is one I won't try!

Re: Requip
Dr gave me a referral to Mayo and have an appointment next week. I hope they can come up with a medication protocol that will work and get rid of the nasty side effects of the ropinirole. I have not had issues with leg symptoms since Dec and would take the side effects rather than the hell I went th...

Re: Requip
Just a quick update. I have been on the last medication dosages since December and have done very well. Not even ONE episode of leg issues which is the closest thing to a miracle that I could ever have. I have not augmented on the ropinerole and take it every 6 hours. I rarely take gabapentin. The s...

Re: after foot surgery
I had much the same experience. I had a neuroma removed from my foot and the anesthesiologist asked if I wanted to be totally out or not. I said yes I wanted to be out-I woke up and I could tell they weren't quite done and he asked if I was mad at him=I said why? And he asked if I had taken my rls m...

Re: Requip
I have been on the prescribed dose of Ropinerole 2mg 4x day and Garbapentin 300 3xday since Dec 12 and getting along really well-so far. Not one instance of RLS in that time. I am very careful to space both of them out so I don't take them at the same time as that makes me a little dopey for a while...

Re: Humbling Experience
I have learned so much after reading these posts the last couple of weeks. I have had RLS for over 40 years and although I felt there was more to learn I didn't know where to go to get info. Thanks to everyone for all the posts. The information has been invaluable!

Re: Snow
I recently joined this forum and read your post. I live in NW South Dakota and that storm dumped 30 inches of wet snow in our area and we had power outages lasting two weeks because so many poles went down in rural areas. The livestock losses were horrible and people will be feeling the financial ef...

Re: Requip
Wow-thanks for the info. I will certainly take it to heart. I think you're right about the Drs now knowing what they might be doing. My primary care physician did not know that carbidopa would lose effectiveness and require more which is what happened. The neurologist told him about that. You are ab...

Re: Requip
I believe I did augment on the carbidopa and in a very short time. I took requip for many years and had a problem with dropping off to sleep when sitting still or watching tv at 1mg 4x a day. I went off the requip in July and started the carbidopa in extended release. I have symptoms 24-7 not just a...

Re: Requip
I take 2MG Requip 4x a day and Garbapentin 500 3x a day. I quit my job the day I was prescribed this treatment. I have been on both separately and they can knock me out but together I knew it would be a problem as I drive 45 miles to work. But I have been on this for one week and NO LEG EPISODES AT ...
