Re: ferratin
OMG! It is a miracle! About 2-3 weeks after starting iron therapy, my RLS symptoms, including sleep issues, went from severe to mild. Is this typical or did I get lucky? Long term, will this be my new normal- or just a reprieve for a time? I went from averaging about 4 hours of sleep a night to 8. I...

Re: ferratin
2 weeks of iron therapy- taking the Walgreen's iron sulfate along with vitamin C tablet. May be coincidence, but I had my first symptom free night in well over a year. That's the good news. The bad is that stomach issues with taking iron is now happening. Any advice? Is there a way to take iron sulf...

Re: Lost
I hear your frustration and pain. This is a very hard disorder to live with. I finally was able to get treatment by a doctor trained in RLS. He told me that finding the right solution would take time, and trial and error to find what actually worked for me. We went over all the medications available...

Re: Anyone interested in being interviewed for a web-series on WED/RLS?
Simon, I was switched to Requp generic, but recently started having augmentation on it after only a month. I am lowering the dose and also splitting it per my doctor's instruction. He also added in Tramadol. Taking it day by day at this point. Good luck!

Re: ferratin
As someone with severe RLS who finally had her ferritin level checked (previous doctors would only do a CBC and say I wasn't anemic) and found they were indeed low, I am crossing my fingers that iron therapy will help my symptoms. Thank you, Peanut, for the encouragement. Good luck with eating other...

Re: New top sheets - coming soon!
For those of you with sewing machines, you could simply pin and sew the top sheet to the bottom sheet along the bottom and lower part of the bottom sides. For those who don't sew, simply use large safety pins to do the same to try it out. Velcro is another option if you want to be able to pull apart...

Re: How to overcome eating to cope
I was doing the same, especially night eating to cope. I finally decided this summer to join Weightwatchers to help lose the extra 20 lbs. Now I save my points for guilt-free night munching and substitute healthier options. Or, will take night time jacuzzis and read a book to distract myself. Anyway...

Hello Simon, Good for you for doing this project. I'm in California, otherwise I would help.
Take care on pramipexole- that particular med caused augmentation and my RLS and sleep to become most severe.
Thank you for getting the word out on RLS!

Re: Referred to Stanford
Holland, glad to hear you have a good internist. My primary doc is great, but he said he had never seen a severe case before. He was happy to refer me and learn about issues like augmentation and ferritin levels.

Re: Referred to Stanford
Steve, I did see the iron glycinate at the pharmacy, but wasn't sure if it was the right stuff. Appreciate the explanation about iron sulfate vs iron glycinate.

Re: Referred to Stanford
Thanks, Steve, for the information on Iron Therapy. The ferritin level didn't surprise me, given how severe my RLS is and how easily I seem to have aumentation on the DA meds. It will be interesting to see how I do with oral iron therapy. Any particular brands more consistent than other brands? Holl...

Re: Referred to Stanford
That's good to hear about the tramadol. Re: ferritin levels- I went online and saw it was at 20.9. Based on what I read, this is low and I will need iron therapy. Waiting to hear from the doctor's office about this issue, otherwise, I will message him about this.

Re: Referred to Stanford
Steve and Ann, After reading many of the papers, and wonderful links about augmentation here on RLS.org, I understand more about how the Stanford doctor is approaching my case. I am now splitting the dose on the ropinirole, and also experimenting with a lowered level. The doc and I talked about what...

Welcome to 67Java89. Lots of excellent information here. I also found the webinars helpful, too. You are not alone, and I am so sorry you have RLS.
