Re: anxiety and WED
Oh this makes so much sense to me. These days my WED is growing worse quickly. I have doubled my dose of requip and it just makes me tired in the evenings, so I have to go to bed without spending quality time with my husband and daughter. Neither one of them understand that I'm so tired I don't even...

Re: Relaxis Pad
I did some looking into the Relaxis pad a couple of months ago. I called the company, and was able to talk to a helpful woman on the phone. She explained that it would take awhile before the pad would have the proper documentation for insurance companies to cover it, and the retail cost was high (so...

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
After reading the description, I am wondering if this is basically the same as a vibrating chair pad. I looked on Amazon and even saw a vibrating heating pad- could this provide the same results?

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
I decided to do a little research - here's what I found after calling my health insurance company and Sensory Medical, who makes the device. The Relaxis will be for sale starting Sept. 1st. I'm waiting for a call back from them to find out the cost. My health insurance company said that it would be ...

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
I'm curious about this! I read the website and it said it works by vibratory counterstimulation.
can someone explain to me how this compares to a TENS unit? I know TENS works on the nerves..... thanks.

Re: Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
I'm pretty sure that the Texas study Dr. Farhy is reffering to is the same one I've been using to guide me through the venous insufficiency issue. Here's link: m It's not recent, unfortunately- 2008. Dr. Farhy, can you give any general pros and cons or general guidelines on how one should decide to ...

Re: Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
Update: I tried wearing prescription compression stockings all day for a couple of months this winter, with no improvement in RLS symptoms. I also spent a full day in bed with no activity with no improvement in RLS symptoms. (To see if oedema was causing my RLS symptoms). I am currently trying a pre...

Re: SAM-e
Hi,
I just finished trying SAM-e's for about 2 months. I followed the regimen for the SAM-e's and other supplements as described on one of the websites that comes up in a google search.
I did not notice any effects, either good or bad from this regimen. Wish I had better news to report.

2011 Roundup of Non-drug treatments
Hi all, I found this 2011 study that is a nice roundup of non-drug treatments. It explains each one briefly with a quick theory of why they may work. I learned a lot. The nice thing is that each of the treatment options studied has multiple links if you want to explore it further. Some are not real ...

Re: Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
Hi, I have an update in case anyone is interested... Yesterday I had an ultrasound of both legs in a vein clinic. The result was reflux in the valves of both legs. I was told that this is actually very common, even though I don't fit the typical profile (no varicose veins, never smoked, not diabetic...

Re: Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
First, hugs to all of you who have taken the time to respond and to offer suggestions. I will check out all of them. After my first iron infusion my ferritin was 161 and I was symptom free for a few months. Now it is 177 and my symptoms are bad. Still, I'll check into what is the highest ferritin th...

Re: Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
Thanks for your replies. It is nice to know that others understand what I'm going through. I was able to get an appt for vein imaging next week, so I will hold off on trying anything new until then. I'm glad to hear that others have taken hydrocodone and been ok. I watched the "Advances in Iron...

Venus Insufficiency cause of RLS?
Hi all, This is my first post here, but I have read many of the topics and messages and appreciated the education and support. I'm a 44 yr. old mother of 2 young children. I've had RLS for a long time (years) (+apnea). In the last year I've had 2 iron infusions. My symptoms subsided for a few months...
