Re: Frustrated with opiates

Thanks again, QyX. I came very, very close to losing hope about my situation 2-3 months ago but I'm feeling better about it these days with the help of friends, a good therapist, and this discussion board. In spite of that, I thought I would have better results with one of the opiates I have taken, ...

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Thanks for all the information, QyX. Are you saying you take carbamazepine along with morphine and hydromorphone? I wish I could say that I have had more relief from anticonvulsants but I don't seem to tolerate them well as experienced with Lyrica and Horizant at lower dosages. I agree with your poi...

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Hello, Thanks, legsbestill, for your post. I have wondered if I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms from both the oxycodone and oxycontin. I was only on the oxycontin for one month and on oxycodone for several months before that. My doctor gave me no warning that I might experience withdrawal...

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Holland, It's very interesting hearing what your regime is. I could only tolerate 50 mg of Lyrica and only got some help sleeping from it. My doctor seemed to think it wasn't worth it. Ann, My doctor's philosophy is to start me at the lowest dose of any new medication for two weeks minimum before he...

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Steve,

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the "legal" forms of marijuana that you describe.

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Steve, Thanks for the additional information. I agree with your description about being on sleep hypnotics; I found myself getting acquainted with several walls in my house on my walks. I don't miss zolpidem and have resisted my doctor's suggestions about other sleep meds. I have been experimenting ...

Re: Frustrated with opiates

Steve, Thanks for your response. The opiates do work to quiet my legs, however, when I wake up it seems to happen because my legs are going. I guess I was hoping that the quieting from the opiates would last longer than an hour at a time. This is the part that is the most disappointing. My doctor ha...

Frustrated with opiates

Hello, I have now been on opiates exclusively for about six months and haven't had as much relief as I thought I would get with them. My history is that I have augmented on Mirapex, Neupro, and ropinirole. I've tried Lyrica and Horizant alone and in combinations too many to remember and got very lit...

Re: Mono therapy or combination therapy--need advice

Yes, let's not argue about which state is worse; it just sucks that it's not available.

I've fantasized about moving to a state where I could get MMJ. Easier said than done. Once you did, how easy was it to get a prescription? I'm assuming you need a prescription?

Re: Mono therapy or combination therapy--need advice

Thanks for clarifying what MMJ is. I've been very curious about it and would definitely try it; unfortunately, I live in MN where we have MMJ but only for a very short list of conditions. Our law is the most restrictive in the country and very few doctors here are willing to prescribe it. I'm not to...

Re: Mono therapy or combination therapy--need advice

Thank you both of you. I am doing all of what is suggested for the constipation with the exception of magnesium so I now have something new to try. It's good to know that there is success with switching meds so that will be another option for me. After my post, I did watch Dr. Earley's video and fou...

Mono therapy or combination therapy--need advice

Hello, I have augmented on Mirapex, ropinirole, and Neupro and could not tolerate Horizant. I'm currently taking 15-20 mg oxycodone and my doctor had me add Lyrica. I got up to .75 mg Lyrica and had swelling in my feet so he had me back down to .50 mg. Feet still swelling, although not as bad. While...

Re: Med trials/insomnia/depression

Thanks for the post, JimmyLegs. I assume you mean a drug holiday taking nothing for RLS? I've thought about but it sounds really scary. I never thought I'd be so desperate that I'm reaching for my meds so going without is daunting. I will look into the seratame and am going to search for other alter...

Med trials/insomnia/depression

Hello all, It's been slightly over a year since I've posted. Some of that time things have been decent with my RLS but this summer my life has disappeared into the RLS abyss. I need some support and advice. A hopefully short history: I augmented on Mirapex and went through the nasty withdrawal with ...

Re: Transitioning to new meds

Since I last wrote, I've been taking 2 x 25mg Lyrica and 1 x .125 Mirapex nightly. I hated to take Mirapex again but the Lyrica by itself was not working. I found I can only tolerate 50 mg of Lyrica or I'm good for nothing the next day. I decided to add the Mirapex back in to create a drug cocktail-...
