Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
You provided one link to a study here which shows association but not causation, and even the summary is as careful as I've ever seen with "suggests the possibility that RLS may be mediated or affected through [inflammation].". So which 3 studies prove causation? "More will come" is not a valid argu...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
Look, I appreciate it that you try to bring something into the forum that you believe should be discussed. But we must be very careful in making sure that people draw the right conclusions. I agree that it's important to reduce inflammation (and find the underlying cause), but it's not at all trivia...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
I know the trendy thing is to take horrible drugs that weren't created for RLS in the first place, [...] No one is trying to take your drugs away. I find it fairly offensive that you throw _that_ in my face. You really have no idea how I have suffered from drug side effects (but this is a private m...

On the miracle cure we agree It took me 5 years to lower my Oxycodone from 30mg to 20mg, but I believe I'm on the right path.Polar Bear wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 12:38 pmWe are always hopeful for some improvement with continued research.

[...] if we think RLS research has made little progress, Alzheimers has an absolutely horrible track record with almost zero successes in several decades. Possibly due to a wrong target of the interventions. There are plenty of researchers that argue that the amyloid plaques are just a defense mech...

Re: Reversing Restless Leg Syndrome
I don't believe there is a miracle cure for RLS. I don't believe either that it can be reversed.... my opinion only. However, it may be possible to control the symptoms. This is quite a pessimistic view :) If we understood the root cause, then we might be able to at least get some improvement. The ...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
My second point is that other researchers since this paper was published have not seemed to pick up on it's suggested lines of additional study. I have personally written papers very much like this that proposed a new theory and suggested lines of research for others to follow. The difference is th...

So I take it that leads somewhere? After all we're in "Non-prescription Medicines, Supplements, Diet". FYI, if we DON'T need something then it's more authority proofs in medicine. I never witnessed such obedience anywhere else, if the bigwig doctor looks at something for 2 seconds and says something...

Re: Melatonin added to the mix
I've tried taking melatonin and it does nothing for me...I've tried different doses 1-MG up 5-MG and it seems to make my RLS worse.. My sleep doc says it can happen that melatonin production is impaired, but it's fairly rare. I'm among these people apparently as melatonin helps me. But this also im...

Re: ANTHRAX VACCINES / LINKED TO RLS?
I'm guessing we have no Veterans on this site that had ANTHRAX VACCINATIONS during their military service? If anyone has had these vaccinations I'd appreciate a response..I'm just trying to figure out where this RLS/PLMD/OSA came from, something caused it. In many cases RLS will come from a combina...

Re: Abilify
BTW I found no studies but at least a blog entry that seemed to reasonably explain why Abilify works differently at low doses: https://thoughtbroadcast.com/2011/09/13/how-abilify-works-and-why-it-matters/ Low dose abilify (around 1mg/d) might actually be worth a try for RLS, because it seems to stab...

Abilify
There are a few hits regarding abilify in this forum -- which of you have taken Abilify and in which doses? Specifically, has anyone been on low dose Abilify? Background is that low-dose Abilify is pretty much the only drug that seems to work for ME/CFS, where people take Abilify around 1mg/d as opp...

Re: Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?
Hey all, thanks for taking the time to review my post. I am a 38m and have had RLS since my early 20s. I have been through the gamut of medications and the opiate class has been the most helpful, with methadone providing 90% symptom relief. While I’m thankful for this, two problems have emerged: ex...

Re: REQUIP DOSING GUIDELINES
The maximum dose for Requip is 4mg/day, but the experts prefer it to be limited to no more than 2mg/day. Buchfuhrers book (that I believe to be one of the best resources on drugs out there) even recommends 1mg/d as maximum. @buglegs As with other dopamine agonists, Requip will work in fairly small ...

Re: Use of Potassium Citrate for RLS
So I read it. And don't like it at all. Red flags: First, it was not randomized and placebo controlled, but the study says "randomized" but never elaborates what exactly was randomized. (There was no control group, so how did they randomize patients?) Second, no word on any drugs the patients were t...
