Re: Sugar and Chocolate problems
I find that sugar causes me problems with my legs. I understand chocolate is also a problem. I have found some chocolates that claim to be no sugar. Is it safe to eat these? Cocoa contains oxalates that may cause severe RLS symptoms. But not everyone reacts to oxalates. Artificial sweeteners may ca...

Re: Abilify
I’m going to ask my doctor to prescribe this to me tomorrow, but I’m still confused about its mechanism of action. It seems to prevent down regulation of the d2r and tolerance, but the a bit component of augmentation is the d2r-d1r heteromer. Maybe without the down regulation the heteromer isn’t as...

Re: Abilify
As someone who also augmented on Mirapex and I am also on oxy I am very interested in how you do on this Abilify! Please keep updating your progress. If this works, I will bring this up to my doctor at my next 6 month appointment! I will! The issue however is that Abilify stops working for many ME/...

Re: Any Helpful Guidelines for an Augmented DA patient Switching to Methadone?
But I am dealing with many of the side effects of the opioid medication, including a return of anxiety and OIC (opioid-induced constipation). The anxiety has been a big issue for me and I'm taking my usual SSRI (Escitalopram) in an effort to help battle those nasty feelings. Does anyone else out th...

Re: Abilify
So, you are combining it with opioids? It’s additive effect is helping your sleep? If so, there are some papers supporting the use of Abilify with opioids to mitigate some of the adverse dopamine effects. My primary issue is ME/CFS, and Abilify is one of the few possible off-label-drugs. But I do t...

Re: Abilify
I posted a research paper indicating abilify for augmentation. Here it is https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37818170/#:~:text=Conclusion%3A%20Aripiprazole%20may%20have%20utility,to%20progress%20to%20cause%20augmentation. Interesting, thanks for posting that! All 4 patients augmented on pramipexole, s...

Re: Reversing Restless Leg Syndrome
Tonight will be the 3rd night of me reducing my Requip to 0.5 MG...not much sleep past 2-nights since dropping to 0.5MG..the RLS has been constant / sporadically throughout the night, been getting about 3-hours of segmented sleep, Good luck! I had 2-3 really rough weeks after coming off pramipexol,...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
You provided one link to a study here which shows association but not causation, and even the summary is as careful as I've ever seen with "suggests the possibility that RLS may be mediated or affected through [inflammation].". So which 3 studies prove causation? "More will come" is not a valid argu...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
Look, I appreciate it that you try to bring something into the forum that you believe should be discussed. But we must be very careful in making sure that people draw the right conclusions. I agree that it's important to reduce inflammation (and find the underlying cause), but it's not at all trivia...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
I know the trendy thing is to take horrible drugs that weren't created for RLS in the first place, [...] No one is trying to take your drugs away. I find it fairly offensive that you throw _that_ in my face. You really have no idea how I have suffered from drug side effects (but this is a private m...

On the miracle cure we agree It took me 5 years to lower my Oxycodone from 30mg to 20mg, but I believe I'm on the right path.Polar Bear wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 12:38 pmWe are always hopeful for some improvement with continued research.
However, at present, I don't believe there is a miracle cure for RLS

[...] if we think RLS research has made little progress, Alzheimers has an absolutely horrible track record with almost zero successes in several decades. Possibly due to a wrong target of the interventions. There are plenty of researchers that argue that the amyloid plaques are just a defense mech...

Re: Reversing Restless Leg Syndrome
I don't believe there is a miracle cure for RLS. I don't believe either that it can be reversed.... my opinion only. However, it may be possible to control the symptoms. This is quite a pessimistic view :) If we understood the root cause, then we might be able to at least get some improvement. The ...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
My second point is that other researchers since this paper was published have not seemed to pick up on it's suggested lines of additional study. I have personally written papers very much like this that proposed a new theory and suggested lines of research for others to follow. The difference is th...

Re: Quotes from 2 Legendary RLS Researchers connecting RLS to Inflammation
So I take it that leads somewhere? After all we're in "Non-prescription Medicines, Supplements, Diet". FYI, if we DON'T need something then it's more authority proofs in medicine. I never witnessed such obedience anywhere else, if the bigwig doctor looks at something for 2 seconds and says something...
