Re: Methadone and Miralax

Thank you so much for the info about Movantik, QyX. I had not heard of it; will run it by my sleep doc, who is well versed in RLS, and see what she thinks. Frunobulax, I appreciate your response -- however, I haven't eaten red meat for decades and don't want to start now. I'll have to look up "fodma...

Methadone and Miralax

Methadone has worked very well for me at a dosage of 7.5 mg. I've been using Miralax daily to deal with the constipation. These days, if I don't take just precisely the right amount, I either get seriously constipated or experience bowel incontinence without any sensation that it's happening. We're ...

Re: Propofol

I apologize, folks -- I see that I didn't come back to the site to check for your responses. I'll check whether another drug besides Porpofol was used in the colonoscopy. Thanks for your replies.

Propofol

At a recent colonoscopy, I was given propofol as the anesthetic. When I awoke, I had pronounced RLS symptoms. Several threads from years ago on this forum mention propofol; the consensus seemed to be that propofol does NOT cause RLS. This was Dr. Buchfuhrer's opinion, and I respect his expertise. Ho...

Allaying friends' concerns re: kratom

I have two dear friends who are aware of my RLS situation (possible termination of methadone) and are fretting about my experimenting with kratom. They've been reading cautionary statements on line about potential liver damage, addictiveness, etc. So have I, but I've been paying the most attention t...

Re: Recent restrictions on length of opioid prescriptions

That's mind-boggling. All I can say is, I wish you the best, and thank you so much for serving as a moderator when you're dealing with these personal struggles so often.

Re: Choosing a dispensary

Oh sigh. How I wish it were simpler. But thanks, Steve. For some reason I am reminded of T.S. Eliot:

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

Choosing a dispensary

I'll bet somewhere in the 29-page thread on medical marijuana my question is answered, but to save myself some time: Does anyone have suggestions on how to choose a reputable dispensary where the staff can advise knowledgeably on the best strains and delivery systems to treat RLS? I'm in Oregon, whe...

Trying to cover my bases

I have augmented on Mirapex, become depressed on Neupro, and done very well on 10 mg methadone, which I may be losing. In case I can't find a truly knowledgeable specialist locally, am I "ripe" to be seen at a quality sleep center, or should I have tried Horizont before going that route? (...

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Mudslide, so you took methadone + 0.125mg pramipexole + 2.5 teaspoons of Kratom last night? Yes, except that it was night before last. The Mirapex seems so clearly to be causing me insomnia that I quit taking it last night. Still had insomnia. Hoping it's just the Mirapex not being out of my system...

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

I would say buy an ounce or a couple of ounces and try it at different doses and see how it works for you. It may work wonderfully, it may not work at all. Thanks, Holland. At your suggestion I bought an ounce of Red Maeng Da from SoCal. Have used it the past two nights trying to overcome insomnia ...

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Mudslide, there are lots of different kinds of kratom, the most commonly recommended in these forums seems to be the red vein Borneo. That's what I use. I would start at a half a teaspoon, wait an hour or so and if no effect try another half teaspoon. Holland, I've been reading a kratom website or ...
