Re: New Member

It's best to feel the symptoms at times, even daily, as long as they don't interfere with sleep. People tend to find that complete control of symptoms leads rapidly to a worsening of the condition and need for a dose increase, whereas stopping short of complete control is a situation that can be ma...

Re: Take Lavander Massage Oil to Your Masseuse

There's an interesting podcast called Science Vs. An episode from September 21 2018 called "Essential Oils: Science or Snake Oil" researches studies on essential oils and basically says that even though they might work (a little) on mice, they don't work on humans. Listen to it and form yo...

Re: Yoga Helping me so far

Sometimes if my calves are really killing me in the night I will do a downward dog for 10 breaths and then a hover for 10 breaths. (They kill me several times every night but sometimes I'm too lazy for this.) That helps but I still need to stay up for about an hour.

Re: Symptoms worse by season

By all means, visit New Zealand! January is a great time, February is even better because school holidays are over so it isn't quite so crowded. I've lived here for 33 years and haven't noticed any difference while travelling between the hemispheres. I seem to sleep better in winter although I'm not...

Re: Craniosacral therapy

I agree, if it helped, go for it but in my opinion cranial sacral therapy is complete quackery. My husband had two or three sessions and the therapist did things like run her hands slowly from head to toe about four inches above his body saying things like "I can sense that your liver is hot&qu...

Re: What Calms You in the Night?

Many years ago when a tooth flared up on a Sunday night and I needed an emergency root canal filling I stayed up almost all night ironing and cleaning. The pain was still there but working frantically took my mind off of it. Luckily my dentist took me first thing on Monday.

Re: Weight Loss

Ann, congratulations on your continued weight loss. Our brains think we are starving our bodies when we try to lose weight so it's hard. For inspiration I recommend "Sugar Free Farm", a BBC reality show where overweight celebrities go for a week or two to work on a farm and have a sugar-re...

 Re the B12 spray: as far as I could get an answer, 1200 mcg is the sum of the four sprays.

RLS, so many variables cause and effect it.

I'd vote for the codeine. In the vein of menthol crystals, I've been using a menthol gel which helps. The brand I use is Biofreeze Cold Therapy Pain Relief Gel but there are others.

Re: B 12 levels

Hi Beth, The label says "1200 mcg, 160 measured sprays". Since the instructions are for 4 sprays, I don't really know if the 1200 is total or for one spray!?! I'll ask at the health shop where I bought it and let you know. One of the benefits of vitamin B12, according to the Healthline web...

Re: B 12 levels

About a month ago my GP ordered a long list of blood tests including B12 which I had never had. He said it was low and suggested I go to the local natural health shop to buy a B12 oral spray. The brand recommended is BetterYou. I spray 4 hits on the inside of my mouth daily. I know it has only been ...

Re: Surviving overnight plane trips

I agree, Sinemet would not be useful if taking a DA every day but it was great for occasional use. I'm trying to convince my sister to try it on long flights. She can cope otherwise but flying is hell for her.

Re: Surviving overnight plane trips

Beth, do you take any other DAs? Sinemet was my first, about 20 years ago and it was great until I augmented on it. Now I take .25 ropinerole and some low doses of opioids but thinking about plane trips still freak me out. From New Zealand all flights are long.

Re: New to Site; hello to all

When I only had rls occasionally, at the movies, a concert or confined in a car, I took Sinemet. It works very quickly and is excellent for occasional use but can't be used regularly as it causes augmentation (when taking medication causes increased rls).

Re: Describe your RLS symptoms

Like Betty, in the evening mine starts as a warning which tells me to get up, start walking or it will get worse and not go away with walking. But unlike most rls sufferers, mine is pain, not electrical (which I think would be worse). It starts as just a low sensation but can ramp up to about 8 on a...
