Re: Driving me crazy
WBruce I'm so sorry you're going through this but maybe you're beginning to see some light. I'm so glad that for my 10-20 years of nightly torture with maybe five hours of sleep if I was lucky I was not prescribed dopamine agonists or I'd be in the same boat. It's far better to suffer a little than ...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
In response to Figflower's belief that “Sleep up-regulates our receptors”, I’d like to say that I don't begin to understand how dopamine affects my body. What I do know is that, with sparing use of various medications, including a small amount of Ropinerole and a few periods of stretching during the...

Re: New and Concerned
Hi MaryAnne, I'd say you definitely have augmentation which has been caused by your high Requip dosage. Instead of continuing to increase your dosage your doctor should have lowered it and found another way to treat your symptoms. There is a lot of good information on this discussion board, look at ...

Re: Horizant$$$$$$
Hi David, you are in the right place for understanding and informed advice from others who have been or are where you are now. I feel so lucky that I suffered with nightly RLS for over 20 years (and severe for 10) unmedicated and when I was finally offered ropinerole by my GP I found this forum befo...

Re: RLS with NO PLMD!
I have RLS in my legs only. It's chronic, every night. If I'm careful I can prevent having symptoms in the daytime but get them if I sit for too long. I don't have PLMD.

Re: Dosage Timing
I've had RLS for about 20 years, at least 10 severe and unmedicated so that I was up at least two or more times for over an hour every night doing anything possible to get rid of my leg pain. About 18 months ago I was prescribed Ropinerole, which at first seemed like a miracle. After a few weeks I i...

We are all pulling for you, even those of us who haven't experienced what you have and can't make any suggestions. Best wishes from the Southern Hemisphere.

Re: atypical RLS perhaps? Getting worse, off and on...
When I ignore the early warning signals I'm really in trouble. If I get up right away I can keep the RLs at bay but if I wait it comes on strong. Even knowing that, sometimes I'm busy doing something and ignore the "pre-RLS" which is stupid.

Re: Meditation
Years ago, before I started on medication, meditation was taught as part of a yoga class I attended. There was no way I could sit quietly and do anything, especially not meditate. It just made my legs hurt so much I had to move.

Remember The Phantom, The Ghost who walks?
For some reason last night while lying awake in the night, I remembered a comic strip that used to be in my local newspaper. It was (and is still published) called The Phantom, The Ghost who walks. The reason for the name (according to Wikipedia) is because in the African jungle, he is called "...

Re: RLS Getting worse. Need help!
Hi srclosson, You will get a lot of tips from people on this forum. Like you, I've had rls most of my life and finally went onto medication 14 months ago. I started on .25mg ropinerole, took more gradually then augmented and cut back. Currently I take 1.5 tablets, about .37mg, at 8.15pm. Two hours l...

Re: Shingles vaccine, Zostavax
TimG, the vaccine does not guarantee protection but luckily you got a mild case. The vaccine helps make sure it is milder than it would be. From what I understand, it also doesn't last forever and immunity is less as a person gets older. Lucky UK people, the vax costs NZ$190 in New Zealand but that'...

Shingles vaccine, Zostavax
I got the shingles vaccine, Zostavax, today. It was expensive but anyone who has lived with someone with shingles or has known anyone with shingles would probably think it was worth it to prevent getting it. Of course, I could still get shingles, but the vaccine would make it a milder version. With ...

Re: My RLS nightmare after surgery
I'm so sorry that happened to you. It's important that anyone having surgery impresses on the staff that they need their medication, without it it's hell. Also, tell the anesthesiologist that you could be sensitive to some anesthetics. Years before I had any symptoms of RLS I had surgery. Something ...

Re: Very Hot/Spicy Foods
I keep well away from caffeine (except chocolate) but can eat anything else without affecting either my stomach or WED. If avoiding any food would keep WED away, I'd do it like Views' friend. I've done "tests" by eating intense "Death by Chocolate" types of desserts and found no ...
