Re: Next Foundation Webinar - Opioid Advocacy

RLS is a neurological sensory-motor disorder with symptoms that are produced deep within the brain. Deb, I’ve memorised this sentence, it’s such a clear definition. Your story is excellent. I had my sister read it, and even though she has a mild case, she called My RLS “mental” after I told her it ...

Re: Intermittent Fasting

Nothing like a bad dose of influenza to lose weight. It’s almost two months on for me and most food makes me curl my nose up. However I don’t recommend it.

Re: Painful RLS

It’s 2:00am and I’m on holiday but my RLS doesn’t know that. I’ve been reading unread posts, don’t know how I missed this one as my RLS has always been the painful kind from long before I took any medication. Just pain, pain, pain. My vitamin D level is perfect.

Re: New to Iron

Yes, good on both fronts. I had been starting to have symptoms in my inner forearms (funny that corresponds to nmy primary area of calves/Achilles). My arms haven’t bothered me since starting the iron.

Re: New to Iron

My previous serum ferritin level was 57. I’m pretty sure it was in the 30s years ago. I could try taking the levothyroxine mid morning and the iron at bedtime. I’m usually on the go in the morning but I don’t eat between breakfast and lunch or after dinner. I didn’t reply earlier because I was on a ...

Re: New to Iron

My old GP said taking iron would interfere with my thyroid level because I take levothyroxine. My new GP said it would be okay as long as I took it at a different time. I started on December 15 and had a blood test at the end of January. My thyroid level (which had not changed for about four years) ...

Re: Skullcap and Valerian Bedtime Tea

It’s not a Yogi Tea but a small batch hand made tea. I tried it once at about 6:00am and it seemed not to have any effect. It tasted awful so I will put it in the compost but I’ll be on the lookout for the Yogi Tea.

Re: Opioid Interview on TV

Good, Steve. People in general and doctors just don't get it. RLS is different and tylenol etc just don't work. Xanax laced with fentanyl does not come from a doctor or pharmacy. The opioid epidemic is being blown out of proportion to the reality of genuine patients needing pain control. In my opini...

Re: Skullcap and Valerian Bedtime Tea

Yawny, making a cup of Bedtime Tea before taking a daytime nap is a good idea. I'll be away for a few weeks but will try that when I get home. This blend also has lemon balm and lemon catnip in it.

Re: super bowl LII

Superbowl trivia: Big V of the Eagles is of Maori and Tongan heritage. He's called Big V because his first name has about seven syllables and his team mates can't pronounce it, and he is big. Even though nobody in New Zealand had ever heard of him, now that they have, they are claiming him as a favo...

Skullcap and Valerian Bedtime Tea

A thoughtful friend gave me a packet of (probably expensive) hand crafted tea that is supposed to aid sleeping. On the packet it says Skullcap calms the nervous system. For Valerian it says "it is an effective and safe nervine sedative herb for most people. A few people find valerian to be stim...

Re: Mental RLS triggers

When I don't have symptoms my brain just lies in wait thinking it could be any minute now. I'm good in the day if I can keep moving but the witching hour is any time in the evening before or after eight and nine when I take my ropinerole, then every few hours in the night when I wake up with pain an...

Re: Progress with my local doctor?

The whole opiode crisis cause and effect is blown so far out of proportion. Tom Petty died a few months ago and the cause was released last week—an overdose of fentanyl and oxycodone. No reputable doctor is going to prescribe enough fentany patches to OD on. The people dying from fentanyl overdoses ...

Re: Hoping for a better night

Alcohol is a trigger for me, I might have four glasses of wine a year. It's no hardship though because I don't really like it and more than one glass gives me a headache. Caffeine is too so except for a small amount of really dark chocolate once or twice a week I stay caffeine free.

Re: New to Site; hello to all

I don't know the brand but magnesium cream is available in New Zealand. Even though I didn't think it would work I bought some and when my legs are really bad rub it in. It doesn't seem to do anything but the rubbing action helps sometimes. I think hand lotion works just as well but it's one of thos...
