Re: Surviving overnight plane trips

Beth, do you take any other DAs? Sinemet was my first, about 20 years ago and it was great until I augmented on it. Now I take .25 ropinerole and some low doses of opioids but thinking about plane trips still freak me out. From New Zealand all flights are long.

Re: New to Site; hello to all

When I only had rls occasionally, at the movies, a concert or confined in a car, I took Sinemet. It works very quickly and is excellent for occasional use but can't be used regularly as it causes augmentation (when taking medication causes increased rls).

Re: Describe your RLS symptoms

Like Betty, in the evening mine starts as a warning which tells me to get up, start walking or it will get worse and not go away with walking. But unlike most rls sufferers, mine is pain, not electrical (which I think would be worse). It starts as just a low sensation but can ramp up to about 8 on a...

Re: Proferrin/Iron Heme Polypeptide Tablet

About every two years my mother would cook (overcook) beef liver for our dinner and proclaim that from then on we would have it once a week or month. Everyone hated it so it would be a long time before she tried it again. But raw beef liver, yuck! Now the only two foods "off my list" are o...

Re: Very Sad

Hi Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about your son-in-law, a beloved member of your family. That is very sad for your daughter and two teenaged grandchildren.
Thanks for the tip on getting esophagus scopes.

Re: Iron supplementation & Constipation

The magnesium is 550 mg. I also drink a lot of water. My new GP wanted me to go on a keto diet but I said no. A) because I didn't think it would work and B) because I'd then have to take medication for constipation. She then suggested I go on a gluten free diet which I did for 28 days even though I ...

Re: Iron supplementation & Constipation

As well as taking iron tablets I take a tramadol daily and 60mg codeine about three times a week. This cocktail causes constipation. This is my solution. For breakfast almost every day I have a half cup of healthy yoghurt with 1/3 cup of All Bran, 1/3 cup of Active Balance cereal (fairly high in fib...

Thanks, Steve. I never have believed the hysteria about amalgam fillings but your scientific explanation is valuable.

Betty, that is truly a nightmare for anyone but doubly so for someone with RLS. Hope you are recovering!

Re: desiccated liver powder

Interesting. Last night I went out for dinner and had a big, rarer than I would have liked, Filet Mignon (it was delicious). I slept for four hours in a row which is twice as long as I normally do unless I've taken codieine. I might take an extra iron tablet tonight to see what happens.

Maybe they are out shopping! I noticed the slow traffic too. Best wishes for Christmas to everyone.

Re: Using Trail Camera to observe RLS

I don't even try to monitor deep sleep. I'm up and out of bed every one to two hours and measure my sleep hours and and out of bed hours on notes in my phone. In the morning I add up the sleep hours and write in sleep hours out of total hours from when I first went to bed. Usually sleep is about two...

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms

Debbie, your situation is absolutely terrible. I hope something can be figured out for you. I'd be crying all the time. (ironically, a crying jag can sometimes calm my legs but your spasms are a lot worse)

Knowing it wouldn't work, I too put a bar of soap in my bed.
