Re: Let's Talk Table Tennis

I grew up in a house with a table in a long narrow sun porch. Needless to say, we had a lot of unique rules. There was a fairly low light with a big glass shade above the middle. Hitting it was called “ringing the doorbell”. Cousins and small children loved playing our version of table tennis.

Re: CELL PHONES - ENGINEER - WARRANTY !!

Congratulations, what a great resolution. Last year on a flight from Milan to Miami, that I'd paid a fair amount for more leg room, the aircraft was changed. The flight attendant asked would it be okay if I had a row of four seats to myself! Even though I can't sleep much on planes it was wonderful ...

Re: Just joined

Don't you hate it when age of a healthy person is thrown out as cause? I've had recurring chest infections this year (never before) and the radiologist on his report said something about how it could take a while to resolve in someone of this age (68)!. I'm not old and haven't had any disease except...

Re: What Calms You in the Night?

This might sound off the wall but I put together jigsaw puzzles. The concentration and moving around (I usually stand) calm my legs and brain in about 15 minutes but I read and stretch for another half hour and finish off by sitting in the dark quietly until I feel I can go back to sleep. If I try t...

Re: Prescription Refills

Yeah, those hot flash cures never worked for the user. I was lucky to be in the era before hormones were thought to be so bad. I couldn't have got through those years without them. And $32.90 is about my limit for potential quackery.

Re: Prescription Refills

I have tried absolutely every single crazy "cure" that has been suggested to me. Mostly so I can say: thanks, I will try that/thanks, I have tried that. I'll confess though, a tiny part of me hopes that a bar of soap under my bedsheets will be the answer haha. Me too, even though I'm the ...

Re: CELL PHONES - ENGINEER - WARRANTY !!

That really stinks. Can you get a second opinion? A year and a half ago I bought a new iPhone 6s. I also bought a store extended warranty for five years for one-tenth of the phone's price. Yes, expensive, but I thought it was potentially worth it as five years is a long time. The original phone warr...

Re: Whacha readin?

Unless you are French this one needs to be paid attention to read the subtitles. La Mante Teaser: In Paris, police search for a psychopath whose killings are inspired by Jeanne Deber, aka ‘The Mantis’; a notorious murderer who terrorised the city 25 years earlier. The now-incarcerated Deber (Carole ...

I'm a skeptic but still bought some as well as a cream. I think rubbing any lotion on my legs has the same effect.

Re: Levothyroxine, thryoid and is this why I'm so darn tired?

I have no thyroid or parathyroids. The thyroid was removed due to goiter. There was a two per cent chance of the parathyroids being damaged and they were. They regulate the uptake of calcium so I take a large dose of calcium and vitamin D twice a day. They are taken with food. Iron is taken without ...

Re: Whacha readin?

Betty, I look forward to seeing the new Shetland series when it gets to Netflix—but I'll still need the subtititles!
Steve, with your history Longmire would have been extra terrific for you. It has been ranked one of the most popular TV series, it's easy to see why.

Re: Anybody have tips to fool the brain?

Recently I've started to do jigsaw puzzles in the middle of the night (along with all the other things I do). There is enough concentration to help my symptoms go away faster than just hoping they will.

Re: Whacha readin?

Betty, I love the Commitments too. The movie was great and I could watch it again. I liked Angela's Ashes until the end when McCourt was such an unsympathetic character. Not a book, but two of my favourite series on Netflix are Longmire about a modern but old fashioned sheriff in the still wild west...
