Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Ferritin of 50 and greater is acceptable for children only. The minimal level increases with age. I found this on the webnair "Children with RLS".

Re: What has thisDiscussionBoard meant to you?

I haven't ventured beyond my own topic until now. I am new to WED and this site. Recently joined out of desperation to find help for my 8 yo son who has severe RLS/PLMD. This site and discussion board has been a life line. I have found so much information through this site's webnair and discussion b...

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Now that we are back on the school schedule, he has been going to sleep easier. We started his Neurontin at 5:30 with a hopeful bedtime at 8pm.

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

I need to go back and look at the powerpoint from the webnair. I believe 40 was low normal for children and 50 acceptable.

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

AnnaM what have your son's doctors said about his ferritin level? You mentioned that he takes a multi-vitamin with iron in it, but for many of us, that's nowhere near enough. I know that my symptoms worsen if I forget my iron pills, even if only for a couple of days, and I take two pills of 325 mg ...

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

WOW! Got an e-mail from my son's teacher stating he noticed a big change and is more attentive. It's amazing how different he is with real sleep.

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

My son is experiencing some slight nausea around 330pm to 4pm. Is this a side effect of the Neurontin. He says he's a little car sick after I pick him up from school. Doesn't seem to last long. Will this resolve after he's been on the Neurontin?

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Each night has been wonderful since starting the Neurotin, it has been over a week. We have noticed a reduction of symptoms during the day as well. My son is happy and full of life again, however I fear this will all go away and it's too good to be true.

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Learned a few things today. The 2 recommended MD's who specialized in RLS at John Hopkins treat only adults. I was referred by them to a MD in Nashville TN. I think however after reading expert advice through medical journals and webnair we are on the right track. My question at this point is....can...

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Hoping the Neurotin is going to be a long term treatment. Last night, another good night with only a brief 5 minute episode. I need to get this boy back to his own room at night. Maybe we can start to have "normal" nights without playing musical beds for the whole family. Looking to make a...

After starting the Neurotin last night, we had the most wonderful peaceful nights. Watching him sleep peacefully was a beautiful moment.

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD

Thank you so much for your reply. This is what I need to know. We gave it to him at 6:30 to make sure he would not have an allergic reaction but I will definitely extend that to bedtime now. Thanks you so much
