Cured
At age 51 my RLS is cured. I had a stone stuck in my billiary system-distal common bile duct. MRCP showed dilation in the billiary system. I had an ERCP to remove the stone. I can drink coffee and eat chocolate with zero RLS symptoms. As far as I can tell a stone can disrupt digestion which is why w...

Re: MTHFR Gene Mutation
It has been two weeks and I feel so stable. I sleep so well I get up hours before the sun rises. My mood is in control and I don't react like others predict based upon historically knowing how I behave. My oldest daughter, 15, is taking it and now she talks to me and gets up early without issue. Not...

Re: MTHFR Gene Mutation
Hello RLS community! I know you are busy but I found relief for my RLS recently so I wanted to share and see if others were also enjoying a similar reprieve. I had my Genomind Assay done in 2018. I learned I have the MTHFR gene mutation that doesn't allow the liver to break down folate (B9) to meth...

Re: MTHFR Gene Mutation
I seem to remember some mention of the MTHFR mutation on this board in the past. If you do a search, you will probably find it. When I had my genes done for genealogy, I checked the MTHFR gene and found that I do not have the mutation. That doesn't mean anything beyond the fact that I didn't pursue...

Dopamine/Caffeine Question
If low dopamine could be a cause of RLS and Caffeine increases dopamine then why does coffee make RLS worse?

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants
Homer, not problem with raising old questions. Sometimes it is easier to ask than to do a lengthy search. Amatryptilin (aka Elavil) is a very old tri-cyclic anti-depressant (TCA) and it has the potential for aggravating RLS as much as the newer SSRI and SNRI anti-depressants. The only anti-depressa...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants
My RLS was under control with 1000mg of Magnesium Glycinate and 10,000mcg of Biotin unless I exercised prompting the addition of two Aleve, but RLS was manageable. Then I started taking 25mg of Zoloft and my sleep has really been negatively impacted due to RLS symptoms. I need the Zoloft as I am ver...

Re: Vein Clinic Consult
I had ablation done on both the left and right great saphinus vein and also sclerotherapy.Doc says could take up to a year to tell but that is just lip service. I am controlling my RLS nicely with 2xAleve, 4xmagnesium glycinate and 10,000ug of biotin nightly. I can no longer run because of excess we...

Re: Vein Clinic Consult
I had the ultrasound today which revealed blood pooling in my great saphenous vein in both legs. I’m scheduling the next step procedure of destroying the veins as ~20% of vein disease patients had RLS symptom relief.

Re: I Think I Found A Possible Cause and Definite Treatment for RLS
Nope, false alarm. However, the Biotin, B1 and methylated B12 do help the body lessen the symptoms but don't cure RLS.

Vein Clinic Consult
Hello I went to get a Vein Clinic consult with a follow up leg vein ultrasound Thursday. The vein doctor says many people who get varicose vein removal treatment due to venous insufficiency notice their Restless Leg Syndrome symptoms are treated with good results. Anybody else had the sclerotherapy ...
