Gabapentin Withdrawal/Start Methadone

I have been taking Gabapentin for my RLS for 9 months (after getting off of Mirapex). Started on 300mg and progressed up to 2100mg. It has become obvious that this is not a long term solution as it tends to lose effectiveness every 4-5 weeks requiring increase in dose. After discussions with my doct...

Re: Stopping Tramadol, Starting Gabapentin,.

I transitioned from Mirapex to Gabapentin last August. Will stick to my experience with Gabapentin for this post. It has been moderately effective for me. I have had to up my dose on it roughly every month. Started out on 300mg and am now on 2100mg 9 months later. It is not like Mirapex where my sym...

Re: DAWS post Mirapex

Well, I checked in with Dr Early before purchasing and using the Abilify. He was not supportive of it, but provided a list of what he would consider acceptable. Can't say I was upset after finding out from my pharmacy that Abilify was going to cost close to $500 (have not yet met my deductible for t...

Re: DAWS post Mirapex

Checking back in. Since cessation of Mirapex in July I have been dealing with bouts of depression...significant at times. By late August my GP put me on Welbutrin (300mg). That helped a bit, just kind of evening things out a bit, but I still have constant depression symptom I never had before the Mi...

Re: Methadone

I got off of Mirapex in July. After a ten day drug free period I went on Gabapentin. Now am having depression issues with Gabapentin and have begun to taper off of that. I believe the next course of action maybe Methadone. Has anyone had depression issues on Methadone? Sounds like those who have use...

Re: Gabapentin & Depression

Thanks so much for sharing. Decided tonight to start tapering back the Gabapentin. Also sent note to doctor about current status to see if we can come up with another game plan. I am real curios to see if cutting back Gabapentin begins to lighten the depression.

Gabapentin & Depression

I have transitioned from Mirapex to Gabapentin to treat my RLS. Withdrew from Mirapex during July (was at 0.75mg). Started Gabapentin right after the 10 day drug free period, so last week of July. I have been suffering from some significant depression since early to mid-August. I have slowly dosed u...

Re: DAWS post Mirapex

I was on 0.75mg of Mirapex at the highest point. I am now on 1500mg of Gabapentin. I have wondered about the Gabapentin being connected to my depression, but have put those thoughts aside for two reasons. First, Dr Early did not seem to think it was the cause. He put the chances of it causing the de...

DAWS post Mirapex

After being on Mirapex for 7 years and dealing with augmentation, I tapered down and got off the medication in July with the help of Dr. Early at Johns Hopkins. I started Gabapentin shortly after getting off Mirapex. The Gabapentin seems to be managing my RLS rather well so far. Since getting off Mi...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal

It has been a while since I have posted. I started the Mirapex withdrawal process on July 4th. I was on 0.75mg at the time. I had been on Mirapex for 7 years and was mentally dependent on it. I followed Dr. Early's protocol for stepping down and am now off of Mirapex. It was not easy but it can be d...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal

Chirosyd...where did you go? I'd love to hear your response as well. Just visited Dr. Early myself today. My guess based on my own appointment is you had no additional medical assistance. He would like to see me off Mirapex as well. I am currently on 0.75 and itching to move it up. He wants me to st...
