Re: Pramipexole to move on or not to move on

Is anyone out there taking a DA and Gabapentin, one at a time or alternating, with success?

Re: Kratom Advise

I choked down a heaping teaspoon in hot tea about 5 pm. It was like mud. It seemed to take the edge off until I took ropinirole an hour before bed but not a drastic difference. I'm going to pick up something to bake it in today. I'll take your advise Jul and try a lower dose.

Re: Getting off pramipexole etc.

Kazul, I have the same side effects from Ropinirole except it helps significantly with my RLS (for now). I haven't got into trouble yet but had to clear the pantry to keep from blowing up like a tick from compulsive snacking. Horny all the time. First I tried Mirapex but it instantly gave me a screa...

Kratom Advise

I just got some Red Vein Borneo to try as a supplement to ropinirole. I hope to lower the 1 mg. I am taking now or at least hold it steady. It would be nice if this was a replacement so we'll see how that goes. I am planning on taking it in the early evening when my RLS kicks into high gear, because...

Re: Requip to Gabapentin... When does it get better?

I used clonazepam for 20 years every night. I started with .5 mg and slowly increased to 3 the last two years. I had no side effects or hangover and slept like I was knocked out, because I was. My whole life I only had RLS in the late afternoon to varying degrees and then again at bedtime. I just de...

Re: Opiate low level 24 hr vs treat just symptoms

Very interesting webinar. The graph of the failure of various DAs over time compared to methadone was eye opening. I'll definitely bring that to my next doctor appointment.

Re: How can I Avoid Augmentation?

Yes Sojourner, 400 mg. Gabapentin. I've taken as much as 900 mg. but I was in the middle of Benzo withdrawal so I was not sure how much it helped. It was a very confusing time. I was watching the recent RLS.org video and they talked about Gabapentin being used to reduce the pain of RLS but I never e...

Re: How can I Avoid Augmentation?

Thanks PolarBear! I have the book and have had the ferritin test. I did not get the number but will when I see doctor next month. I got an iron supplement to see if it helps until then. I'm having success with 1 mg. Ropinirole but get varying degrees of RLS in the evening. I tried 4 mg. Gabapentin l...

Re: How can I Avoid Augmentation?

It seems to me that the future of fighting RLS is for new sufferers to know what they are getting into and for people changing prescriptions to know the ramifications. Waiting for the pharmaceutical companies to come up with a cure and then being able to come up with insurance that will pay the bill...

How can I Avoid Augmentation?

I’ve been on Ropinirole for a week and it has been a miracle drug for me. Within an hour my RLS disappeared for 22 hours, a full 24 the next night and almost two days the third. My severe insomnia also vanished. Research and advice convinced me to contact my doctor and lowed the dose from 2 to 1 mg ...

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS

I just went two nights on one 2 mg. dose of Ropinerole. I'm going to try to get a lower dose. I've never seen anything work so well but the side effects seem worse than Gabapentin. I intend to try Gabapentin again, maybe starting today. Last time I started I was on Clonazepam and at the end of my Be...

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS

Yankiwi, Thanks for the response. I agree with your assessment completely. I am concerned my doctor started me out on too high of a dose Ropinirole at 2 mg. I was only on Sinemet for a few weeks, did not get relief and did not like how I felt so I quit everything. I was going through Clonazepam with...

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS

I should also say my insomnia was also gone and I got the best rest I have had in at least 3 months. About ten hours in bed and nine asleep.

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS

I lasted two more weeks on only supplements. Besides a multi and magnesium I took some amino acids. My severe RLS continued all day which I never experienced while on Klonopin. Saw my doctor yesterday who wanted me back on Gabapentin. I convinced her to write a script for Ropinerole which I took by ...

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS

I only took Carbidopa-Levodopa for 3 weeks. I was taking Gabapentin for the last year when I was tapering off 20 years on Kolonopin. Gabapentin seemed to quit working on the RLS after 11 months, maybe made it worse. Insomnia was the worst side effect. Maybe daytime RLS. Part of my problem is I can't...
