Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
I apologize for not posting sooner about having a medication pump to fight the RLS. I’m still experiencing relief nightly! Yes, no RLS for months at a time!! I seem to get RLS symptoms after flying for a few days after the flight - not every flight but there seems to be a 50/50 chance RLS will show ...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
My sleep has been much better. The hardest thing I've had to deal with is my nightly ritual - no longer grabbing different sleeping meds, getting in bed, facing the same direction, play the same cd, etc. Since the morphine is directed just the one area of the spinal core, I don't have a "whole ...

Re: Morphine pump
Amazing what 1 mg of Morphine directly injected into the central nervous system can do! QyX - it's amazing but 1mg a day in my spine is worth 300mg orally. Europe is light years ahead of RLS treatment and hopefully you can find help. I'm cruising down the Rhine this April to celebrate my "cure...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
Not sure why but my post aren't showing up! Hopefully this time since I feel my treatment has to be shared. The medication pump was installed on 16 Dec, I was up and walking that same day. I have not had a single RLS moment since the 16th. I'm say 100% RLS free! If you have questions I'm more than h...

Re: Approaching a Doctor
I agree with Steve. I printed off studies from Sweden for my Pain Doc. Don't go to a family Doc but go to an Pain clinic, let the pain Doc know your issues and hit the with the midication pump. I can provide anyone with the Docs name, the surgical team and the person who will maintain the pump for t...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
It's Jan 11th and nearly a month since the pump was installed. RLS symptoms, twitches, sleepless nights, amount of days I won the PowerBall is all the same...nothing. I have not had any RLS problem in any form. I don't know how else to describe it as a wonder treatment. I'm hear to help anyone deali...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
Hi all, just a quick update. I suffered for 20 years with RLS and now, I'm on the other side of being "cured". I knows been just a week since my morphine pump was installed but the relief is absolutely amazing! Not a single RLS twitch, spassim, or urge to move. Talk to your Doc about the m...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
Let me run through your questions...... Refilling: it's dependent on how much your prescribed as well as pump capacity. I'm looking at getting mine refilled about every 3-4 months. The refilling process is quite easy. On the pump facing outside my body there is a rubber type filling port. I think it...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
It's SundY afternoon, about 48 hours after the surgery and not a SINGLE feeling of RLS at all. I'm laying down on my couch and there is no twitching! I wish I could have done this years ago but last night with no throwing of my arms, no kicking of the legs I admit I broke down into tears. I'm more t...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
The pump is installed and running great! Since 16 Dec at 10am I have not even the slightest twinge of RLS. it's a God send for me. The cons: about a 4-5" scar across the tummy (I selected the left side). On the spine at belt height, there is a 2" vertical scar. No SCUBA diving below 33 fee...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
Wonderful news, on 16 Dec I'm having the pump installed! I spend 1 night in the hospital and hopefully it wii kick the RLS bug in the butt! I did 20 years in the Army without getting a tattoo. But now.....I'm thinking getting a nuclear reactor warning sign over the pump! I bet the people at TSA will...

Re: Morphine pump & Deep Brain Stimulation questions
I had a lumbar puncture yesterday to measure the relief from severe RLS with morphine being injected directly into the spinal column. The Doc said a drop of morphine in the spine is the same a 300 drops orally. I was quite impressed with the results for the first 6-8 hours. After 8 hours I began to ...

Re: Do you ever just want to pound on your legs?
I pound my arms to knock the RLS out. Then my wife and I were at a party and we started doing the old Jackie Gleason bit about "knocking her to the moon." Then a lady spotted my very bruised arm and put 2 and 2 together and got 5. She called the local police thinking I was being abused by ...

Re: Morphine pump buddy?
My initial understanding is the pump will go on my right side with the filling device just under the skin. While they are implanting it they move pieces and parts to get to my spinal column. Then the morphine delivery tube is then connected somehow to the spinal column (possible the sack around the ...

Morphine pump buddy?
It's looking like my request for a morphine pump to treat my RLS is moving forward. I still have to see the Shrink, I'm really not to worried about that portion but the voices in my head are slightly concerned. I'm just hoping the village of miniature people living under my fingernails remain quiet ...
