Re: Med resistant RLS
My version of RLS is also painful, now. Pain Management wouldn't do a thing for me for the RLS but a sleep clinic doc did.

Re: Does anyone successfully use ONLY an anti-convulsant?
Badnights, I took only gabapentin for years and it was effective. IIRC (& my dates may be different than what I've posted before because I've done some record checking and memory mining recently), I started it in 1995 after I had augmented on sinemet. I took 100mg whenever the RLS kicked in, whi...

Re: Vitamin D to reduce RLS
I've been taking 4000 IUs Vit D3 for almost nine months - no effect on the RLS but I think the depression has improved and I have slightly more energy. Of course, I've also lost 40+ lbs and substantially improved my diet (more veg and fruit, more complex carbs, more fatty fish, almost no "proce...

Re: Whacha readin?
Reading "The Life at the Dakota" (Stephen Birmingham) and had to share this:
"...another advised guests at a dinner party against “shaking with your feet the chair of a neighbor”—an activity whose purpose is hard to imagine."
I think we can imagine the purpose, yeah?

Re: Who is your favorite doctor?
Thanks for the info! I'm going to pass it on to the neuro I saw - I don't know if she'll be interested but there are two other neurologists at the Sleep Clinic who might be.

Yah for the rx victory, for standing up for yourself with the Practice, and the pink hair. Persistence, strength, and humor win again - as do you!

Re: Ropinerole withdrawal, oxycodone, & LDN
I hadn't yet taken the oxycodone when the RLS kicked in. But, I'd taken my usual early evening dose, which should have still been working. I ended up needing a full 10mg (took 5mg, waited half an hour and, when the bugs didn't get any gentler, I took the other half) to avoid chopping my legs off. I ...

Re: Ropinerole withdrawal, oxycodone, & LDN
Took .125 pramipexole last night about three hours before bedtime. I took 2.5mg oxycodone at bedtime (just to stave off any withdrawal - I've noticed if I skip a dose I have non-stop sneezing attacks and a bit of anxiety and figure since I've mostly been on it for years now at varying doses my body ...

Re: Effectiveness of Gabapentin/Neurontin Over Time
Oh, Polar Bear, I hope it all works out for you. I've got my fingers crossed for you. I was on gabapentin for years and it stopped working. My neuro put me on .5mg clonazepam. Over the years, he increased the dose to 3mg and wouldn't go higher when it stopped working. Because it wasn't working, I di...

Re: Ropinerole withdrawal, oxycodone, & LDN
Great info on iron, Ann. Called to schedule my test. If I take the pramipexole do I not take the oxycodone that whole day (I take a total of 30mg over a 24 hour period)? Or just skip the bed-time dose? Will I experience withdrawal because I've been taking oxycodone nightly for well over a year (5mg ...

Re: Trials and tribulations with opioids
Dgarmaise, I pm'd you with my Madison, WI RLS doctor info. Also, I have nausea from gastroparesis from multiple sclerosis and ginger is the most effective treatment I've found. Ginger tea (real ginger root, nothing else) works well but I also have pure ginger root capsules (no fillers or binders) of...

Re: Ropinerole withdrawal, oxycodone, & LDN
Thanks for the input re pregabalin, methadone, and pramipexole. I think I'm going to try the pramipexole tonight. I'm a bit concerned about the oxycodone amounts I'm thinking I need. Last night was slightly better but I took a crazy cocktail of 5mg oxy, 1mg clonazepam, .25 trazadone, and 10mg baclof...

Re: Ropinerole withdrawal, oxycodone, & LDN
I have RLS all day. I'm pretty immobile from the MS (balance and a dead right leg). I was taking 5mg oxycodone for my back pain and it used to stop the RLS. Through the taper off the ropinirole, it sometimes was still enough until about midway through. Then I had to take 10mg. And, it was liveable. ...
