Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

Wow, looking at the map I am disappointed to see how FEW Foundation Quality Care Centers are in existence. I think my best bet at this point is my PCP since she seems open to new treatments. I am only on 1mg Ropinirole per day, so I could easily get off it. Problem is, then my RLS symptoms are unman...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

I've been trying to get off Ropinirole for 4 years, also unsuccessfully. It seems to be the only thing that works. I am currently experiencing augmentation symptoms. I really think that doctors don't understand/know how to treat this disease. Keep fighting and I wish you well on your journey!

Re: Requip and Sleep Quality

This is indeed a very complicated disease. One night recently I took one Klonopin, one Requip and one Tramadol tablet in the evening. This should knock an elephant out. I could NOT get relief and had to walk the floors all night.

Re: Tramadol

I'm sorry that you are going through this awful experience. I take 1 Tramadol a day for arthritis, so the amount you were taking sounds like a lot to me, but I ALSO take Ropinirole. One of the benefits of Tramadol, I was told, is that is not a "true" opioid, and therefore not as addictive....

My experience exactly! (And Seroquel did the same thing) Neither did anything to relieve the RLS.

Re: Relief of my RLS with Voltaren gel

I have some Voltaren gel which I use for arthritis. I'm going to give it a try on the legs. I am desperate to get off of Requip. I've been on it for 4+ years but absolutely cannot sleep without it.

Folate supplements?

I've read a few things lately that RLS may be caused by folate deficiency. Anyone had any success with folate supplements? I've been taking iron supplements for a few months and have managed to get my iron levels up, but no improvement in RLS symptoms. I'll continue to take the iron, but am interest...

Re: ferratin

It's been 3 weeks since I started taking iron supplements and eating red meat again. No improvement yet, but I'm holding out hope! Just had my labs done at Dr appt but it might be too soon to see a difference.

Re: ropinirole and me

I have written here before, but too irregularly to be able to find my earlier writings-or maybe I am too lazy or tired to try. Anyway I wrote Dr,B. I take 6 to 8 mg of ropinirole, probably am augumenting and asked him to name a Dr in my area who could help me stop ropinirole without endless days/we...

Re: Can calcium supplements exacerbate symptoms?

I haven't heard that, either - but I've also learned two things. 1) we truly can have different triggers, 2) What we think are triggers aren't always triggers. Oh, and 3) Finding the real trigger is sometimes impossible. Vitamin D may help - anecdotal and some limited research back that up. Calcium...

Re: Can calcium supplements exacerbate symptoms?

Okay, good to know. I suppose I could just stop taking it, and see if it makes a difference, but I'm trying to do what is right for my body.

Can calcium supplements exacerbate symptoms?

Maybe I'm grasping at straws here but I've just restarted calcium-D supplements for bone health (female early 50's) and my symptoms have gotten exponentially worse. I've only been taking them for a week. Does anyone know if calcium has been known to worsen symptoms, either from studies published or ...

Re: Are Carbs and sugar rls triggers?

It's worth a try. If it helps, then you won't need the comfort . It's also worth it to look at the other diets used. Many people have had minor to major success. I do find that fruits, nuts, and proteins work better for me as snacks. I am less likely to overeat them and they are more likely to sate...
