Re: Hello - I am new to the site. Horizant Question

Worst enemies may not be bad enough to have rls wished on them but there are some medical professionals out there who might benefit from a temporary insight into the tortures of it ...

Re: What Severe RLS is Like

Creating a garden is a wonderful thing and you should feel proud of that. Put in a fruit tree and 2 or 3 fruit bushes and you will have joy every harvest. I find audiobooks are helpful to distract me from those awful bleak thoughts when they strike. I have also heard that an ibuprofen pill can be he...

Re: Vulnerable

Hopefully the prednisone will make you feel more cheerful, leggo. Though it's unlikely to help with sleep ... In addition to the thyme tea you could look at tulsi tea which is widely used in India to relieve bronchial constriction and I think has some actual positive research behind it. Be kind to y...

Re: reflections on a bad trip to the RLS specialist

Wow that's a LOT cheaper than the one I was taking. It was a brand called Charlottes web cbd. I used the top strength version which was 'everyday advanced' and apparently provided 50mg/ml cbd extract. I think that meant 50mg per serving. It was taken sub-lingually using a dropper. I was assured it w...

Re: reflections on a bad trip to the RLS specialist

Betty, I don't know much about naltrexone and how it works and was really just passing on what I read of Aipulu's experience. However, Naltrexone at higher doses (as Aipulu recommends) - ie not LDN - is typically used to help addicts to reduce or quit opioid drugs (as well as other addictions). The ...

Re: Hello - I am new to the site. Horizant Question

I cannot add usefully to what Steve and Beth have said but just wanted to let you know that you have my respect and admiration for educating yourself about what needs to be done for your RLS. Very best of luck with the next step.

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

So sorry you are having to go through this misery. Am blown away by your strength and resilience in resisting the urging of TWO neurologists to increase your dose. You are absolutely correct to do so. Increasing the dose will definitely lead to worse, more protracted suffering down the line. I would...

Re: reflections on a bad trip to the RLS specialist

PolarBear, would you consider asking your GP to prescribe Naltrexone as Aipulu suggests in a different thread? Apparently (I'm sure you saw this so forgive the repetition), Aipulu was able to lower his/her dopamine agonist dose substantially almost immediately after starting Naltrexone. As it worked...

Re: Augmentation - Delaying the Inevitable?

Aipulu, your experience could be ground-breaking and if I were still augmented on a d/a I would definitely be trying naltodextrone on the strength of it. It could save misery to many if it works for others. Have you thought of contacting Dr. Buchfuhrer on his patients' questions page (rlshelp.org). ...

Re: reflections on a bad trip to the RLS specialist

This story stuck in my head so strongly. It is beyond outrageous to be told by any health professional about any condition that 'there are worse things'. But in relation to RLS/WED??!!! Persistent sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture by oppressive regimes. My understanding of torture is th...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

Well done ladyslider - you seem to have managed your withdrawal incredibly effectively. I hope you can continue to reduce your dose of OxyContin. It must feel great to be free of the dopamine agonist. I was on a much lower dose than your original 6mg but still found that my need for medication conti...

Re: Kratom and lortab issues

I have read that restless legs is a commonly experienced side effect of coming off Kratom (for people who use Kratom recreationally and don't habitually suffer from wed - lucky sods). It could well be that that is what you are experiencing. I alternate Kratom with neupro patches - changing over ever...

Re: Hyper Alertness

I use cannabis (as an edible) in an attempt to overcome this problem. It is not always successful. A small dose of pregabalin sometimes helps. Nothing is fool proof though -sadly.

Re: Vulnerable

Wow; you certainly put my travails into perspective. No wonder you are feeling miserable. That is a LOT to cope and some of it sounds like it will only be resolved with the passage of time which is disempowering. I can absolutely relate to your problems with your mother. I also asked my mother to st...
