Re: Medical Marijuana

Thanks, NatWest, I often think of you when I am researching about growing the cannabis. It would be so optimal to find a strain that actually helps the RLS - at present it is only effective for insomnia. I can purchase CBD as an oil here in Ireland and have taken it in the past with my dose of oral ...

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

My instinct if rls is getting worse due to augmentation is to reduce the dopamine agonist. Are you taking oral iron? Raising serum ferritin levels can help a lot although it is not a short term solution. Have you tried kratom? It can be very effective against RLS and can be used as-and-when rather t...

Re: Krantom newbie questions

I too find that the effect is similar what ever strain I use. I tend to use red vein borneo because that's what most people on here recommend.

Re: Medical Marijuana

I am definitely going to try black coffee. I had given it up completely in the hope that not having caffeine would help with symptoms but it doesn't seem to have made any difference and much vaunted improvement in caffeine spiked highs and lows also failed to materialise in any meaningful way so I w...

Re: Two hours of sleep

There is a webinar on the foundation website about physical devices. My memory is that it says that in studies the restiffics wraps were found to be about the most effective physical treatment for RLS symptoms. Conversely, the relaxis was not found to be effective (though, strangely, it was found to...

Re: Bad night last night...

I find kratom fantastic also. If it worked for you it might enable you to build up a little stash of the opiates by using the kratom as an alternative for a while. I would second everything badnights says. She is very wise.

Re: Keeping your prescriptions safe

I have quite a lot of oxycontin left over from when I gradually reduced my dose last winter. I wasn't ready to get rid of it for a long time - I had such a hard time getting it in the first place but for now I don't seem to need it and it is counter-indicated by my central sleep apnea. I found it wh...

Re: What To Do?

Thank you for an informative and useful post about your experiences. I found it very interesting. I know you did not ask for further input and am conscious that you have already received advice that will not be absolutely what you want to hear - though, in my view, extremely well-informed and presci...

Re: Is anyone else still on clonazepam?

Good luck with the clonazepam elimination, Polar Bear. Wouldn't it be marvelous if getting rid of it resulted in more 7 hour sleep stretches? Leggo, for what it's worth, I don't find that cannabis has a particularly appreciable effect on my RLS urge to move. It does help to induce sleep but I have n...

Re: What To Do?

Best of luck with this, Tim. You have made great progress already. It may be worth checking your serum ferritin levels -- they can have a substantial impact in optimising the outcome when coming off dopamine agonists.

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Polar Bear, I heard somewhere that kratom is used as a clothes dye and in that capacity is not illegal in UK. Thus, if it is not for consumption it is not illegal to possess. I order it from Amsterdam from a website.

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

It was the same for me when I found this site. The relief and affirmation of discovering that I was not alone was wonderful and the support from everyone was highly influential in giving me the confidence to devise a system that is currently working reasonably well. I hope the return to clonazepam i...

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Kratom works very well for me. I take it for a few weeks and then use a neupro patch for a few weeks. My hope is that this will keep my dose on each at the lowest possible level for the longest possible time.

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

I have heard that the unpleasant side effects of gabapentin do wear off for many. I'm sorry but don't know how long that takes. I hope you find a good solution. You have had some great advice already. A cocktail of meds each at a low dose is often most effective (as already advised) but there are al...

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Just to say that the advice you have had so far is spot on and absolutely what I would have said also - though with less authority than the very experienced moderators and Stjohnh. In particular, if you do go down the dopamine agonist route, be sure to have a high serum ferritin and if you find you ...
